its a shame no external alarm was sounded :(

i managed to find a complete drivers side replacement 'the one i linked above' but the passenger side glass and backing plate arrived yesterday, but just one problem with it is that the backing plate clips are to big for the actual connection. http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=121200945870 Thought i was being a retard and unable to fix it myself so i took it to the garage to be told nah m8 its the wrong size it's to big FML :( so im now on the lookout just for the correct backing plate and the glass is only £9 in Halfords. The drivers side mirror was the complete unit that they stole and was achieved by snapping off the arm and leaving all the cables dangling down the door, but they only took the glass and backing plate from the passengers side. When the wife called out the police he was shocked as they never get called out for that type of crime in my area of fulford, the one thing that really annoys me is that no alarm went off on the car but yet it goes off all the time when the dogs are in it.

Thank you for all the replies guys i have ordered those parts that i linked above, just have to wait for them to turn up now and get them fitted.

i honestly have no idea if the mirror on my 2006 skoda octavia estate is heated or not, i have the elegance model if that makes a diff and i cant see anything in the docs/manual that tells me. Going to have to order it i think as the scrappys around here dont have my year or model. Just cant believe someone would do this even with the badges on the car and so close to christmas.

I dont suppose anyone is breaking a skoda octavia, some thieving swines have stolen my drivers wing mirror and the glass from the passenger sides mirror. Wouldnt be to bad but im about to leave for 6months with work and my wife is left behind with our 2 kids and 1 of which is disabled. Going to check the scrappys and sellers to see if i can get the parts cheap as the local garage is asking for alot of cash.

Mines removed and a dog cage is in to stop my 2 stupid border collies trying to drive.

Brilliant and thanks for the fast reply , I was honeslty expecting them to cost a hell of alot more than that.

Can anyone tell me if its ok to just replace the 1 shock or both at the same time as my front passenger has started to knock. Saving up for a house deposit so every little counts as they say , if anyone has a ball park figure on the cost would be ace, so I can do some garage haggling face to face .

I just got a renewal quote of £428 of 1st central and with no reason why this has gone up by £100 I kicked them into touch. Managed to find a firm called budget insurance which quoted £174, after breakdown and what not It went up to £219 which im happy with and thats with a £450 excess and 10yrs no claims.

Well after having to go away with work for a few weeks i finaly got the car into the garage, D M Keiths in York and it turns out there was a loose/knackered cable that stopped all communication to the auto gearbox. im still baffled how this could have happened by simply checking the fuses , but its sorted now and everything is working again. Only problem was that when i picked up the car yesterday i noticed a gaping hole where my headlight washer cover used to be passenger side, straight away i pointed this out to doug and said oi what is that. As before i had given him the keys the week before i had done a complete walk around to check for damages before handing over. to cut a long story short i couldnt prove they had broke it and the servicing lads all said it was missing when they started work on it, after being asked for £50 for a new cover and spraying/labour i dug my heals in a bit more and credit due to steve from servicing he sorted me out with the part £4.70 and will contact me next week when its in and i can fit and spray myself. on one hand im glad to have a working car again and steve did me a awesome favour of knocking the labour down for the work so it would fit in my budget, but im still slightly miffed by the damage to the car and im kicking myself for not taking pictures of the car on handover.

The callout guy has bodged a lead from the connections on the fusebox and i just have to touch the + term and it starts bypassing the ecm, just have to wait till tue for the garages to open to start getting some quotes and ill drive it there.

Cheers for the help m8 but sadly no joy looks like im going to have to wait till next week for the garage to open that someone recommended to me on these forums before i moved to york. As no way am i taking it to the the skoda dealers as after that phonecall im not inclined to go there.
