  1. I checked the passenger side by unplugging it and VCDS showed a fault there as well as the drivers side, plugged it back in and the only remaining fault was the driver side. So carpet up and seat side panels removed to try and free up more loom length as its a bit tight and tricky to re-solder the floor pan plug. I done a cracking job even if i do say so myself.......until i tried to clear the fault and the light went out for 3 seconds then came back on again !!!!! Gutted. I checked for any obvious damage to the loom from the soldered joints to the airbag controller and all looked fine, so then went in the opposite direction from soldered joint to the airbag, as the seat side panels were off it gave me a far better unrestricted view , and their it was....... another bloody plug about 10 inches along the loom from the floor pan plug. I could just fit one of my big hands in under the seat to reach it and put some pressure either side to make sure it was tight........it moved about 0.5 mm. I cleared the fault with VCDS and watched the dash for the light to come back on........nothing ! Cue me running up and down the drive like i'd just score the winner in the cup final !! I could not get 2 hands in to cable tie the plug together so decided to jam it in place with a screwdriver and get my glue gun in and put a blob of hot glue on to hold the two sides of the plug together. Worked like a charm. So my 10 month nightmare of airbag warning light and bonging is finally over !
  2. Thanks for your thoughts,I'll try the passenger side tomorrow and try and clear it again.......then check for dry joints in the soldering . I just seem to be going around in circles with it !! This is the fault code and everything I've seen points to the plug hence the soldering.
  3. Hello, Ive been trying to clear the following fault , by cutting out the under seat plug and soldering the wires as ive read loads of post on the subject but it will not clear with VCDS. Is their anything else i can do as i'm at the end of my tether over it and the MOT is looming, could it possibly be the airbag itself at fault and how hard is it to remove ? Any members advice would be greatly appreciated. 1 Fault Found: 01217 - Side Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N199) 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON
  4. Thank you all very much for taking the time to reply, I will pass on all the information and advice. Cheers Jay
  5. Hello, My parents are thinking of changing their car so they can tow their caravan which is 1500kg,is their any Yeti owners who might be able to give their advice/opinions on them buying a Yeti to tow with. They are mainly concerned with the 85% weight rule but would rather get the opinions off owners who may use theirs to tow. Thanks
  6. Would doing this affect my re map ?
  7. I'm wondering if I should try the old disconnect the battery for 2 hrs and then leave on tick over for 10 mins to reset the sensors and throttle potentiometer.....I've just read a thread saying the ecu can learn the way you drive so with the garage having it all day last Friday it might have been reset and the engine run up over/above idle speeds to get it started. Or am I just clutching at straws ?? LOL
  8. It never used to do this as noticeably before the breakdown and this is the reason behind my concern. VCDS showing it's using 0.6 l/h on idle.......is this excessive?
  9. Just cruised up the motorway at 60mph for 15 miles and got a trip reading on 61mpg. Then ran it on my drive for no more than 10 minutes for vcds scan and the trip has dropped to 48mpg !! That can't be right....??
  10. I have also noticed the fuel consumption appears to have dropped and with it being so eager to start would this surgest a timing issue ? I have a VAG cable but not sure what values to look for....any help would be greatly appreciated? Cheers bluejj
  11. So it was the pulley causing the fault ?
  12. I'm just hoping that's it sorted.....too bloody complicated these bloody cars ! LOL :-)
