  10. In not on about the belt. Take a look at the a/c pump pulley for signs that the bearing inside could be shot like noisy or graunchy when you turn it or it could be tight or really loose?. Mine was and squeeked very similarly to yours. Because its on the aux belt it is governed by engine speed so will sound worse the faster you go until it seizes or falls off lol
  11. the squeek/noise is engine speed related, check the a/c pump pulley as the bearing went in mine and made a similar noise, i have a mk1 octavia tdi and could easily remove the tension from tensioner pulley to remove the aux belt, then check the a/c pump pulley. if not then it will probably be a bearing/pulley of some sort.
  12. so am i right in thinking that mine uses direct injection from the pump to each of the cylinders, whereas the my partners golf is more of a commonrail set up ? Thanks for the reply Trundlenut
  13. Hello all im kind of new here and would appreciate any help/advice. I have had my Octavia for a year now and although it is a great car and economical id like a few more horses. Im not looking for massive power just a little more, since my partner has just got a golf 130 tdi and it drives much better. How could i do this without spending massive amounts of money and without changing too much? I was told taking the N75 valve from a higher BHP car will improve performace ? Can i simply take the valve from a golf 115 or 130 ? or similar without having to get a remap etc ? Neil
  14. The red light illuminates when the button is pressed, but nothing and I mean absolutely nothing happens when I try to programme the key fob..
  15. Tried but nothing worked....think this will be a trip to the stealership....
  16. Evening all, I hope someone can help me as I have searched the forum and found 3 different guides but nothing works. I have 2 keys for my car, they both open the doors manually and start the engine but only one unlocks the doors remotely. I have tried the main key in the ignition ON position, locked the car manually using the key to be programmed but when I press the unlock button I don't get a beep from the horn, I have even tried it with the key that does work and there is still no sound from the horn. I am now lost as to what to do because I dont really want to go to the stealership. If anyone has any information it will be greatly appreciated.

  18. My car Is a 2002 1.9 8v tdi 90bhp, hope this helps. Thanks for your replies so far. I believe this is old style engine.
  19. After fitting the new filter I did not fill with diesel and so it would not start, after searching on here I found a thread about filling the new filter with fuel, I have done this but my car still will not start, I can see fuel traveling through the clear hose, it splutters but wont fire up, now the battery is flat so I've put it on charge and will try again tomorrow evening. Does anyone have any tips? Also I'm a little worried about the fuel pump running dry and going completely wrong, I have not been continually cranking it over just for a couple of seconds each time... Any help is greatly appreciated Neil
