  1. Are the loom sections easy to get hold of and fit?
  2. Had this happen to mine today. Parked it for an hour or so at a friends and it was working when I restarted the car. Assume it's just a glitch in the software that switches the display on and off. First time it's done it in 5 years and 30k miles.
  3. Tyre info should be on a sticker on the back of the fuel filler flap if the manual doesn't help
  4. Thanks for the tip, will get her to give them a call. Sorry for the delay in responding, didn't get a notification
  5. Any recommendations for gf just moved to LS7 and needs to find indy to service 07 Octy. Might need new or part exhaust Any recommendations appreciated
  6. First thing I would check for is a blown brake light bulb, they used to cause all sorts of false "brake light switch" errors on my old Alhambra - worth a look for the 10 seconds it would take
  7. If I remember correctly the factory foglamp accessory kit includes everything you need to fit the lamps. Wiring loom, new head/fog switch etc but is it really worth it?
  8. I discussed one of these with my dealer a week or two back. They are "special edition" which simply means they are ready built bog standard 1.2 Tsi 86 SE spec bundled with a steel spare wheel and jack. The fact that are already sitting in a compound means that options cannot be added. They were initially available in Silver or Shark Blue but only Silver are left. The salesmen said Skoda had now added Black metallic to the deal so back to two available colours. He claimed they had four "available", whether this meant they were sitting round the back of one of the group showrooms or sitting at Emden "allocated" to their dealership wasn't clear but he said quick delivery would not be a problem. If you consider Skoda are promoting a run out old model 3 cylinder 1.2 12v 69ps Fabia SE for £9595 the Roomster SE "special edition" at £9995 with 4 cylinder 1.2Tsi 86ps is a no brainer particularly if the £99 service deal is still available with finance. If there is is a run out SE+ coming for the same price then it would, obviously, be even better value. I have the last SE+ which added roof rails, MDI and climate together with special seat fabric but it was an extra cost full price model demonstrator and frankly the only thing I would miss are the roof rails. In short, if you need a new car and can live with the Roomster's looks then get your wallet out before it's too late. It won't come with roof rails, side rubbing strips, foglamps, headlamp wash or fancy alloys but still represents mind-blowing value for money
  9. Last time I drove in Sweden they hadn't invented the pothole so that would help the ride quality
  10. Logic says that the new owner/keeper should pay tax from the start of the next full month on the basis that the previous owner/keeper has already paid and cannot (or will not) be refunded. Sadly the Government / DVLA have never applied logic and common sense to anything they do and the poor old motorist loses out yet again
  11. "I linked the heated mirrors to the heated rear window, so both come on at the same time and stay on for however many minutes, 20 by default. Better than having to also move the mirror adjuster and then forgetting them" Would love to know how to do this - my Alhambra worked like that and it was just such a logical thing to have
  12. There are companies that will "wrap" a whole car, might be worth seeing if one could wrap your bumper top in clear or silver - problem is that there are a zillion shades of silver
  13. There's always the option of the Skoda transparent protective rear bumper cover foil Part no 5J7 071 133A (mind you it is £35!) I assume it's the same material that they use to protect the leading edges of the rear wheelarches A similar film was standard on my old Seat Alhambra and the bumper top was unmarked after 9 years
  14. Annoyingly I only ever seem to want to know the total mileage I've done when travelling at +6 kph, by the time I've stopped I've completely forgotten all about it!!
  15. + 1 - quite normal, displays total miles when stationary, displays speed in kph over about 5kph, returns to total miles when you stop again
  16. "Builds"? Do you mean bulbs? I'd take a close look at the light cluster - probably a wrong bulb or broken filament shorting - all sorts of weird things can happen or perhaps a poor earth as BRYANB says
  17. Had a friend worked for a Ford dealer who did exactly the same with a Ford Orion (it was a long time ago) They claimed it was the transporter driver's responsibility to remove the transport chocks before it came off the transporter - this one was spotted within a day or two of delivery though not a couple of years!
  18. The one thing I would never buy from an accident damaged car is anything to do with seatbelts. Nor would I ever consider dismantling a buckle to repair it. I'm biased because I'm only alive because of a seatbelt. I would have thought a dealer supplied replacement will be cheaper than a funeral
  19. Interesting to see you have headlamp washers which aren't available in UK. (Also the steering wheel is on the wrong side but you may find that useful) Wonder what other differences in spec there are
  20. Does the boot have a key operated lock? On my old B5 Passat the key lock slot had to be vertical for the c/l to work on the tailgate, if horizontal it stayed locked and had to be opened using the physical key. It was to stop people opening your boot at traffic lights and running off with your welly boots and empty de-icer cans!
  21. A friend of mine considered converting manual aircon to Climatronic in a Scirroco, the deeper he got into it the more it became clear it would have been easier to convert it to a Bugatti Veyron! He swapped it for one with it already fitted. I've had Climatronic on a B5 Passat and dual zone Climatronic in an Alhambra and both were excellent. The "climate control" which was standard in my current Roomster SE+ is a very poor relative being noisy and irritating, the backlighting does not match the rest of the dash, even the control panel is a poor fit and looks like it's been bought off the internet If you must have "climate control" then search for one with it already fitted, I'd swap mine in an instant for cruise, heated seats or bluetooth.
  22. The plastic ticket clip was one of the primary reasons I bought my Roomster. My two drinking buddies have a fully loaded petrol Freelander and a Jaguar XF and both are in total awe of Skoda's ingenuity, well that and the brilliant panoramic roof and the fact it only costs 10p a week to run. Just need to stop them referring to it as the "Cut n Shut"!!
  23. "Oddly enough many of the interesting cars seemed to have Skodas parked next to them :)" That's because Yorkshire folk use good taste and common sense when it comes to choosing their cars. There is no substitute for seeing potential colours in "the metal" though.. My Roomster is Aqua Blue but in certain light from certain distances it looks either metallic grey/pewter or silver and only looks blue from close quarters. The Meteor Grey Fabia Reaction looks awful on the website but the colour (with black roof) really suits it in the showroom
  24. There's one in DM Keith York's showroom today as well - perhaps they're breeding? Curiously it's a Scout as well (Unless it's the same one moonlighting)
  25. Took me about an hour in total max on my Roomster (a lot of which was lying down then struggling to get up again - don't recommend doing it on a gravel drive!) Remove the three wheel arch liner retaining bolts, offer up mud flap taking care to correctly locate any retaining lugs on the flaps, refit the bolts through the flap, retighten - job done. I had a handy torx bit set with a small right angled ratchet handle which meant even the rears could be fitted with the wheels on - bit fiddly but straightforward but will depend on your wheel size - mine is on 15" Dealer had quoted £102 fitted inc 40 mins labour. Think I paid about £32 plus delivery from Hortons
