Thanks for that Gregie. Basicly I hit a baby deer at 50mph, killed it and my car looks rather sorry for itself now. Theee is a list as long as your arm of stuff that needs replacing, bumper, bonnet, l/h headlight, l/h wing, grille, front crash beam and a few other bits and pieces that take the total bill up to £2750 :/

aah nightmare. I was doing 60 and didnt have time to brake either. I was luckier than you i just caught the back half the deer and broke bumper clips and stressed it. Bent my wing a bit and a new headlight was needed. Also scratched my door. Hardly notice but i know the marks are there so it needs sorted :p

I was on a back road doing 50-55 mph and I didn't even have time to touch the brakes before I hit it. My gf screamed like a little girl tho lol. I would post up a picture of the culprit but some people might not like it so I'm not going to bother. I'm just glad the airbags didn't go off

That's not good, but look on the bright side, it's not bad for deer damage.
It was only a baby deer so I was lucky in some ways lol. If it was an adult then I'd hate to think what would have happened

Can anyone recommend a garage in the Aberdeen area that will do a good job of fixing my car that needs a new front bumper, bonnet and grille? Also to add a complication I need the car fixed by the 1st of June because I'm going down to England for 3 and a half months.

I was wonering if anyone knew where I could get second hand bits for my car in racr blue. Its a mk2 fl Octavia vRS and I need a new bonnet, front bumper, and bonnet grille. If you could link them to your post that would be great
I might also need some more bits because I've not examined how bad the damage is to the car.Thanks in advance

Crashed it into a deer last night. Its looking rather sorry for itself :( Tucked it up in a quiet back street and left it to deal with today since I'm not sure if its leaking coolant :/

I think it is a Touareg... and not a Tiguan
They might have a Touareg as well but this was definitely a Tiguan on a 12 plate

It wasn't unmarked but I saw a fully battenberged up VW Tiguan in Inverness last night that had pulled over a Range Rover. Never seen the police using them before

Took it for a road trip yesterday and the fuel guage was sitting at 3/4 even after 200 miles
I wasn't hanging around at some points either and I had the bike rack on the roof as well. Thats a new record for me -

Clean? Whats that then? I can only remember one van ever being washed and that was because I managed to get mud all up the side, front and back doors of it. It was so muddy when I parked it up there was mud dripping off of the chassis making pools/piles of mud under it. There was still mud coming off of the bottom of it 3 days later. Don't even ask how I managed it
The service light was on for months on that van and it was still on when we had to give it back to MT because it wouldn't reverse. I think it will need a new gearbox after less than 23k because we managed to strip the gear of its teeth -

I've never heard of an Octavia having this problem before. It sounds like it could be a while before you get it back as well. I know that my Grandad had an works Escort van in the 80's that had the same problem but it was the passenger side that leaked and he never managed to get it fixed the whole time he had the van. It sounds like a weld has failed on the engine bay bulkhead and that is where the leak is coming from. Worst case senario is the engine and entire dash and associated electrics will have to come out to re-weld the broken weld. I'm not saying that it is a broken weld but if it is then it could be a pain to fix properly

It is a good spec but when I specced one up how I wanted it, it ended up costing £37.5k and that was for a 3 door manual
The 19 inch alloys, amundsen equivalent satnav and 2 and a bit grand leather seats might explain that a bit tho since thats about 4k's worth of the options there -
No I'm up in Aberdeen so I use the local Skoda dealer who I do have to admit after a couple of hickups seem to be very good. I almost traded my one in for a Focus RS but it was out of warranty and if anything did go wrong then it would cost me money rather than Ford so I'm keeping mine until the new Focus RS is out (its not been confirmed yet but its looking very likely) Its in the garage today for the 22nd day I think it is lol.

I wouldnt describe the 'R' as poverty spec though - not when it has xenons and led drl's, adaptive cruise control, climate, auto wipers and lights, LED interior lights, 18's, front and rear park sensors, a decent leather sports wheel and seats as standard as standard?!
I'm pretty sure that leather seats are a £1600 option or you can go mad and theres a set for about £2400 I think. I'm fairly sure it comes with alacantra as standard

Hi..blackline vrs, 9500 miles..had her since July last year..already had the airbag replaced (4 days to sort it), two rear wiper motors replaced..and not the best experiences at my local skoda dealer..condescending manager don't help.
Apart from that it's been great. ????
Seriously..I've been close to selling the car. Wish I'd bought the gtd instead.

Thats nothing compared to whats gone wrong on mine lol. It was in the garage for 9 days straight at one point and they still wanted to keep it for longer because it still wasn't fixed but I needed it back because the Citigo that they gave me was too small for what I had to do the next week. -
Mine did that a bit when starting from cold, I found that if I gave a few more revs it didn't happen. When its warm its fine all the time.
My car does this as well but the judder that I was speaking about was a lot worse than the cold engine judder that it has. Thanks for the tip anyway

Wow, the latest in a catalogue of things going wrong with your Octavia.....it's not painting a very rosy picture is it?
It could be some sort of contamination on the clutch plate that is causing the judder. Failing that, it could be an early sign that the DMF that is causing the problem. Whatever it is, it needs looking at before any potential damage is done, especially as the car is still under warranty.

I bought the car thinking that I would be getting almost VW quality for less money but thats not been the case. I know that it could have happened to any car that I bought but its really annoying especially since this is my first Skoda. I really can't fault SUK tho with the way tgat they have handled my complaints about the car. It has been a liability ever since it was 3 months old. Its nearly always been carrying a fault ever since.
I'm going to phone the garage and mention it to them since its going in to have the handbrake fixed on friday so they can look at it then. The thing that I can't understand is it doesn't do it all of the time.

Its been a while since I've posted here but I'm looking to sell my current car and then get a cheap run around for 6 months to a year until the new focus rs comes out which I'm on the waiting list for but my car is about to go out of warranty and just want to get rid of it. I would maybe keep it after I get the focus to use day to day so the focus doesn't get any carpark dings on it.
My max budget is £1500.
What would you guys suggest?
I've seen a 53 plate mk 1 fabia 1.2 classic with just over 29000 miles on the clock for £1500. Its got a full skoda service history to 2010 but the pictures don't show anything beyond that as well as a little rust starting to develop on one of the rear arches.
Theres also an 05 plate mk 1 octavia estate 1.6 petrol classic with 139000 miles on it for £800 with full service history to 102000 miles. From the photos there looks to be a small scuff on the rear bumper but nothing serious.
Any make or models considered except french or italian cars.
