  1. Hi everyone. My wifes car was in for an MOT and was advised to have the front bushes changed. After a quote of £300 i said i would look at doing it myself. I ordered the parts specific to the car and when pulling the wheel off, i see that the suspension set up is completely different to what i was told. The mk2 is supposed to have the same set up as the mk1 apparently but looking at our, it looks more like the mk3 set up. The fabia is a monte carlo 1.6tdi on a 64 plate but registered in 2015. I have had an experience like this before with my very late model felicia when a good few of the engine components were octavia parts as the stopped manufacturing the felicia parts for the newly soon to be released fabia mk1. Does anyone know the parts i now require?
  2. I didn’t realise there was a SIM card in the glove box. Like you say, easily removed. Fitting an independant tracker sounds like the best option then. I have a steering lock lock ready to go. Been reading articles about vehicle thefts and a lot of the advise these days are revert back to the old ways. Steering locks etc. Might consider fitting a kill switch or something like that.
  3. Hi everyone. I’m close to ordering a brand new Octavia VRS. Unfortunately my last one got stolen from my drive. As a result I have already taken measures to protect the next vehicle but the final measure is a tracker. My brother has just picked up a Kodiaq and it has an infotainment system or something like that and smartlink. I have never had a car with this, but he says his wife can track his car through an app (clearly some trust issues there). When I asked him further about the tracking, he didn’t have a clue. Does anyone have these systems in the car and can it live track the vehicle? Or is it a gimmick and getting tracker fitted is the best option. Been looking at the eBay ones and they seem decent enough. I don’t want a tracker that goes through another company before the police need to be involved. I would rather be in control of the tracking.
  4. There is no external damage as far as i could tell. Not been in the car yet. Been told £700 for new locks fitted with keys. Only a tad more than my exess. Hastings Direct have been ****e to deal with for an insurance company. Might as well foot the bill myself cause next years insurance would sky rocket. Despite the no claims protection. They will always get their money back off me. They would just take a couple of years by bumping up my prices. I agree with Audi's. Wouldnt touch one. Its the same with VW golfs. They are always taken here along with Focus ST and RS models. Mines is the first Skoda to be stolen in the area. Think these guys are realising that the VRS is just the same as the golf GTD's and Audis. Just got to deal with the fallout now. Reckon it will cost a total of £1500 to £2000 to replace house windows, keys, locks, vehicle uplift and storage.
  5. Hi everyone. That’s my car been found. Members public got in touch after seeing all the Facebook posts that I put out. Found in Carluke. A few streets away from an Audi Q7 that was found after being stolen the same night. It was left to see if a tracker was fitted as that’s the usual method of the pro thieves round about. safe to say a tracker will be fitted now. car is off to forensics. Hopefully get some identification from prints or dna hopefully. Anyone know now how much new keys, coding and locks are fitted?
  6. Thanks for the responses. Please share any details to make this the most known Octavia in the country. Never hide your keys. Place them out of sight of a window but never to hard to find. They will come amd get you if they really want your car. Also never heard of Skodas being nicked. But since they are just as powerful now as the desirables then i suppose they are now on the list with VW, Audi and the Fordt ST/RS models.
  7. It was stolen at the time. Kitchen window smashed, baddie ran in and took the key. By the time I ran down stairs he was in my car. Looked outside to see it driving off. Was decorating so sat sat the key on the kitchen worktop. Oppsite side of the room from all windows. Happens all all the time in West coast Scotland. If I hid the keys, they usually just come up the stairs with a knife and demand them. So it’s better that they got the key the way the did. Not worth risking my family for a car. Despite being the best car I have ever owned. They only wanted the car car as well. My wallet was sitting next to it.
  8. Sorry if this is not allowed but want to get the message out. My Black Octavia VRS was stolen by true key last night at 03:52 hours. Taken after my house was broken into and key stolen. Location Blackwood, South Lanaarkshire. Reg plate SM63JKV. Please keep an eye out. All mk3 owners please be aware of your plates being stolen or used as a clone, as this is the likely outcome of the vehicle. Thanks
  9. Thanks Superb170. Hopefully be handi g around a lot longer this time. The now wife convinced me to take the Kia however she realised i missed the Skoda. So she encouraged me to get a other one. Only picture so far.
  10. Hi everyone. I have been away for 2 years after selling my Octavia VRS mk2. I lurked around enjoying the project builds etc. The mk2 was the best car I ever owned. Sold it and leased a Kia Sportage. Didn't realise it was the best car until it was gone. However, the Kia is gone and today I bought myself a 2013 Mk3 Octavia VRS. So excited to pick the car up.
  11. Hello Looking for a wee bit of guidance. I keep getting the same fault code coming up. Only when it's wet. It disappears when the roads dry up properly and over summer I never get the fault. The code reads; 00257 -166 01/01 Canbus ABS inlet valve: Front left (n101) Spa toxic 006 - short to plus. It does not cause any issues with driving. I've had a look online and other car owners (non skoda) have had to replace this item and it's cost them £350. I don't want to pay that without at least trying a home remedy first. Does anyone know where this inlet valve is on the car? If I can get to it, I can probably fix it or even dry it out and insulate it from the elements.
  12. Found it using the R32 web page. Really easy to get into it. Only took 15 minutes. Thanks for the help. Got a bolero retrofitted in the mk2 Octy VRS now. Looks great.
  13. Hello I am having trouble finding my canbus gateway. I have an Octavia VRS TD. 2008 58 plate. Your help will be very much appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Hi. Got a problem. I have a 58 plate VRS. It hit 30097 miles yesterday and the DPF light came on. I usually drive on m/ways at good speeds and give it a good rev on back road. Total commute is usually 40 miles on good quiet motorways with speeds around 80mph. I drove another 20 miles and the EML light has now came on. I gave the car a wee bit of welly to try and clear the DPF. After I reached my destination 5 miles away I parked my car. 10 mins later I get back in to go home and notice my DPF light has cleared but my EML is still on. 4 miles later and almost home the car starts to kangeroo a wee bit and I hear a funny noise. This happens for the last mile until im home. Once I got out the car i could smell burning oil but theres no oil leaks and the engine temp is good. Iv not phoned Skoda yet. Was hoping someone here might have some helpful advice for me.
