Hi All
This has been turning into a bit of a saga so thought I would reach out for advice.
A couple of times in the past, (both times on a Sunday) my car refused to turn over with the glow plug light flashing and the engine management light flashing, later in the day or the next morning the car was fine, consulting the forums i found people reporting similar issues of unknown origin happening once then never again.
Two weeks ago this finally happened on a Saturday, the car was still dead come Monday morning so on my way to work I dropped the keys though my local mechanic's letterbox
He connected up to his diagnostic machine (snap-on) it showed an injector fault, as is didn't specify which injector he decided to disconnect each in turn and on disconnecting injector 1 the fault went away and the car started, reconnecting the injector did not cause the fault to reoccur and I got the car back whereby it ran fine until the following Saturday. I called the garage and he came up with the diagnostics box, tired the same as the week before with no luck, after a few attempts the car started. he left and 20 minutes later the car was dead again.
When on Monday morning it was still dead i dropped off the keys once again. As the garage was busy they didn't get to it until Thursday I'm told the mechanic came up to collect the car, tried to get it started, failed, went back to get his van to tow it in and then it decided to start, drove round to the garage , turned it off and it then refused to start again.
On a hunch he put a jump battery on the car and it started fine. putting a new battery on the car after which it started fine every time and no sign of the injector fault returning on the diagnostics, surmising that there want enough current in the nearly 6 year old battery to run both the starter and the fuel injection system.
I got the car back last night & again this afternoon it has died. I disconnected the injector, the flashing glow plug light went away I reconnected it and the car refused to start whether it was connected or not. I have checked the battery with a multi-meter & it currently shows 12.3vMy dads telling me to just call Skoda & get them to bring the car in and they will know how to sort it, although since the car is showing an injector fault I suspect they would charge me more than my local guy has charged me for the hours hes put in just for towing the car in & then tell me it needs a set of injectors, also dont really want to throw the emissions software update into the mix if the car continues to act up
Any help & guidance hugely appreciated

Hi Guys
I'm thinking of fitting a dashcam behind the rear view mirror in my Fabia
largely for ease of wiring and avoiding removing trim panels
Does anyone know if its possible to tap into the wiring to the interior light?
Thanks

@delta925 Thanks for the tip,
I've got an off ebay copy of VCDS somewhere ill try and find it
@SuperbTWM I didn't notice anything unusual with the dash well apart from the warning lights and the buzzerAs above still haven't had a chance to check the battery terminals, it was dark and raining by the time i left the office last night so when she started 1st time I just drove home
-
Sorry Guys I reread my original post,
when I say it doesn't turn over the starter runs as normal and all sounds fine but the engine just doesn't start.Ill take a look at the battery terminals tonight, make sure they are clean/tight

Hi Guys
Not sure if this is one for in here or the diagnostics forum.
So this afternoon I went to go out and the car wouldn't start. (1.6 TDi)
The car wouldn't turn over. the glow plug light started flashing as soon as I turned the key. When trying to turn over the engine after a few seconds the oil light started flashing and a warning buzzer started beeping.
Checked the oil level and its fine
I plugged in my obd-II dongle and scanned for fault codes with Torque OBD but no faults found
I left the car for a couple of hours,
I tried it when I got back and it started 1st time with no issues
From searching the forums I've found some similar issues with the flashing glow plug light etcSo I was thinking dud glow plugs
faulty exhaust temp sensor
Blocked DPF
But not sure with any of these why the car would run fine less than 2 hours later?
Has anyone seen this before?Thanks

Hi Guys
I got home tonight and noticed my drivers side headlight was smashed.
I assume this is the correct headlight:
(2012 1.6 tdi) but im noot sure if it actually has a black trim or if thats just the picture.
As the lamps still work does anyone know if its possible to just replace the front glass?
Also if i remove the remains of the broken glass will it bo ok to use the car for the next couple of days until i can get the parts?
Thanks

Sorry for reviving an old post
I found this one from a search and went looking for the levers last night
I found the one on the passenger side so I now know what im looking for, not looking forward to adjusting the drivers side but for those that may also be hunting for the elusive lever
Take off the Rubber cover on the back of the projector side
The lever is on the inside edge so towards the middle of the engine bay.
Reaching into the light housing to the full extent of my fingers i found a full a flap that felt more like think tin foil than a lever which i was able to move down with a little persuasion and back up with a little swearing.
Hope this is of some help to any one else stumbling across this.

agreed 7 day shop's batteries are fantastic for the price. they now last better than the OE canon batteries
-
Ive never used their website but have made multiple purchases from their ebay store2 DSLR's Flash gun and afew lenses over the years all delivered within 72 hours from HK and normally they do supply English manuals ALso check out their facebook page and youtube channels for kit reviews and some slightly off the wall product tests
I am currently researching replacing my canon 40d camera body. I have been looking on digitalrev.com and have been surprised at the price difference. I am aware that the item will be a grey import and the instructions will not be in English. A world wide warranty and door to door warranty is included. I have also checked that the import tax and shipping is included in the price displayed.
Has anyone purchased camera items from digitalrev.com? I have never spent that amount of money online before so it would be nice to hear any comments.
Thanks.

Every CR engined car is fitted with one, it's an EU requirement.
The Manual says:
Code 7GG,7MB or 7MG on the vehicle data sticker indicates that your vehicle is equipped with a diesel particle filter
checking my data sticker the code is 7MQ also i dont think ive ever seen the warning light on the dash for the regen running
-
As far as I can tell from the manual my 1.6CR is not equipped with the DPF
Ive watched my fuel economy on the drive to work drop from low 60s to low/mid 40s
coming back to this thread has reminded me to ignore the shift light although if any of the vcds experts out there know if there's a way to turn it off that would be handy
The car is due its 10k service in the next 500 or so miles Im hoping that this will help revive the economy
I've also started using fuely and I am noting which brand of fuel and which garage each tank came from
-
yeah I was thinking about the piggyback or a spur fuse
i was just looking for advise /recommendations on which circuit to use for the live feed
-
As per my other recent thread. ive now ordered/gathered the needed bits to install my tomtom
I have Tony (gratyeti;s) sat nav installation guide which takes the ignition live feed from a blade fuse spur on the rear wiper circuit.
I notice in the fuse box there is a gap marked in the manual as telephone installation but i assume that this is not going to be live as i don't have nay factory fitted phone options.
So is tapping the rear wiper circuit the best bet for an ignition live or does anyone have any other recommendations?
Thanks

I got my 1.6 105 back in October and for the 1st week running 40 mile round trip to work it was getting 62,pg average on the run to work. then the traffic started to pick up back to normal, change of shift and school holidays ending etc meant i was suddenly getting 48 mpg :(
A long weekend in London gave me a chance to evaluate the car on a long motorway run where it did mid 50s cruising at around 70mph.
I was getting ****ed off that the MPG seemed to be continually getting lower.
I read some of the posts above about ignoring the shift light and keeping the revs close to 2k and noticed the economy starting to creep back up.
I just managed to get 68mpg on a short motorway blast which was into the 70s until the last mile or so which is a fairly steep hill
Given previous threads about the difference in performance between supermarket and branded fuel i was trying to stick to shell however due to getting 5p off a litre at tesco im currently running a tank of tesco diesel with a shot of Millers ecomax

Thanks guys
The Brodit looks like it may be a good solution
Discovered that when the TT is on the windscreen even with the car parked with the engine off the the mic on the handsfree really struggled :(
-
could be the wiper relay, one of the previous Bora's front wipers did that when the relay went

-
I already have the tomtom
just trying to figure out where to put it
-
Hi Guys
Im looking to hard wire a tomtom satnav.
Since its mainly for the bluetooth handsfree Id like to have it as a oermanent fixture rather than digging it out of the glovebox every time.
Does anyone have any suggestions for where to put it that its reasonably out of sight from outside the car but still usable?

Hi Gyus
Im looking to fit a hands free kit and wanting to remove the plastic pannel where the sunroof controls would be if i had a sunroof
In previous vws it was a plane plastic plate and poped out really easily
In the Fabia there is are the small vents in it and it seems to be stuck,
HAs anyone taken this out and if so is it attached to something or do i jet need to get something bigger to pry it out?
-
Agreed
Had one of those in the toolkit for the passat mind you it had free floating brake disks, changing the wheels was a nightmare until i figured out what the stange plastic thing in the tool bag was for

Hi Guys
Im looking into fitting a vanity light into the passenger side sun visor
I was thinking of picking up a mk4 golf or similar visor from a breakers and just tapping into the roof light for power
Does anybody know if this will work or if there are better options for doing this?
Thanks

Ok so i attacked this at the weekend. I've put some 6mm number plate pads
After a couple of 100+ mile drives no squeaking to be heard, so all i need to do now is fix the rattly heater controls
I have a few pics on the camera so ill put up a post in the tech journals board when i get home

Dreaded flashing glow plug light - Fabia 1.6 tdi
in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Posted
Ok so after poking around somewhat aimlessly in the engine bay this morning I removed the injector connectors again, straightened out the wires and put them back,
Car started. and has started with no problem ever since.
Assuming its not another red herring, looks like it is a dodgy wire in the injector loom.
