The 50kg limit is exactly that. Its the legal limit above which you can be prosecuted, regardless of what you have loaded the towball with (trailer/bikes/mother in law). It is vehicle specific due to how the tow bar mounting points are designed (the point around which the bar would rotate under load, for example). It is also towbar specific due to the design of that. You have to go with the lower of the two.

Its red as its a critical component. You shouldn't really drive it until you find the cause, especially as its the brakes.
Our old Polo did the same thing. One of the banjo bolts on a rear caliper (changed by a terrible garage) was leaking as they didn't replace the crush washers with new ones.

Turn it all the way in, then you should be able to get your fingers behind the glass to prise off the 2 clips on that side and it should lift out. The wires are connected on the side closest to the car too, so you shouldn't pull them this way.

Its not the steering lock is it? Try wiggling the steering wheel as you turn the key.
