  1. In fact I found the interior quality of the new Mk3 I drove disappointing compared with my Mk2.
  2. Thanks for all the advice/comments. Have now had a drive in a 1.4. Ride is not as comfortable as my 62 plate diesel Octty. Wife hated it although she loves our present one. It is off the new car short list.
  3. I remember it well https://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/HistoryofBritain/Great-Horse-Manure-Crisis-of-1894/
  4. Now I am confused. I have just been told by a main dealer that the suspension on the 1.5 and the 2.0 as standard is the same. The DCC appears from the configurator to be an £870 option on either.
  5. Sorry Ian I was looking at the wrong model configurator anyway,,,Dohh.
  6. The configurator gives a 16" all season tyre as an option.
  7. Stacks of options when you get a new car but you do not even get to know what tyres are in the standard spec let alone having any options. Choice of tyre has to be more important than choice of upholstery surely?
  8. Which reminds me sometime in the 50's my father bought a 1930s BSA car. I suspect it only had about 10hp when it was new. To this day I am traumatised by memories of 14 hour 'holiday' journeys to Cornwall /Devon in it. I recall with particular fondness those golden times when we had to get out and carry the luggage to get up some west country hills. Ah those blue remembered hills https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSA_cars
  9. My Octy Mark II TDi 2.0 2012 was on the affected list. Was offered a free optional 'retune'. Not really a problem for me to be honest.
  10. Spoke to a main dealer today and they agreed they are standard on the SE L. So that is £160 saved. Thanks
  11. Many Thanks for the advice people. I am convinced the 2.0 is worth going for; I did not need much convincing to be honest. Interesting about the folding mirrors; @GaryL I will have to get that confirmed one way or the other by the dealer when I order. Methinks electric folding mirrors should be standard on this spec.
  12. Thanks for that John. I am only considering a DSG. Having had a DSG box no way would I go back to a manual. Already decided to move away from Diesel. From 2021 0nwards will cost me at least £12.50 everytime I drive to the end of my road with a diesel under the new London emission regs.
  13. Already asked this in the buying new Skoda forum. Hope it is OK to post same questions here. I am thinking of trading my Mark 2 2012 TDi 2.0 DSG Octavia for a new petrol Octavia. The performance of the TDi 2.0 suits me fine. Will the Mark 3 1.5 TSi give me similar performance or should I think about the 2.0 petrol version. I am looking at the SE L models which according to the configurators come with those two petrol options. Couple of things in the SE L package that I cannot work out. It gives powered folding mirrors as an option but they also seem to be standard*? Any info appreciated. * The configurator says 'Electrically adjustable, heated and foldable mirrors with boarding spots' which is a bit ambiguous about the folding mechanism. Space saving spare is an option on the configurator anyone know what the standard kit is? Is it the bottle of gunk and an electric pump. I have a full size spare (much my prefered option) unused that I bought a couple of years ago for the Mark 2 anyone know if this will fit the studs on the Mark 3 and is there room in the boot cavity for it if I hang onto it? Lastly the SE L standard says Acoustic rear parking sensors. Is acoustic feedback all you get ? Is there no on screen graphic indicator? Many Thanks for any info and Merry Christmas.
