  1. Hi all, can't believe it's been so long since the last update but thought it was about time. So we managed to fit the 6 speed gearbox from a audi a1 petrol - few things needed changing but it works a treat. Always seems to drop down into the power band and just keeps going. Track day went well although started off very wet! Everything on the car seems to have bedded in nicely though. Since the track day I have been driving it every now and then however life has got really busy and I am now actually moving abroad for a while which means no more minty for me. The good news is that after all the sweat, money and back breaking work that's gone into this build my friend who has done a lot of work with me has taken ownership, so she is in good hands. This won't be the end as I will be back regularly and plenty more road trips in the future. I also have a Octavia r32 project that needs to be finished at some point, however working away means everything has been paused for now. Some pics from the track day; And of the next project - current state;
  2. Nice work Trev. Looking forward to having 2 fgf's out on track just imagine how much @pip_vrs will like that
  3. About to go collect a starter motor and fit it .. Does that count?
  4. After all the money and time this week it'll be there even if its going round on the back of the aa truck
  5. A lot of set backs this week but she might just make it ....
  6. Time for a little update, so I'm booked on the Snetterton track day this coming Monday... In the last few months I've had a few things go wrong, wheel bearings started causing issues, driveshafts are not happy and I went through another gearbox since Worthersee. The 5 speed doesn't seem to be able to cope with the lightened flywheel and spinning up so quick... On Monday this week the work started - nothing like working under pressure A 6 speed gearbox is currently going in (trying anyway) with new clutch and flywheel, wheel bearings are being done, drive shafts, full service etc etc. Not much at all
  7. We'll be up the night before as well.. Car having lots of work done this week so hopefully ready by Sunday
  8. Good luck with the build mate. I only feel a little bad that you sold the green one to me
  9. Also managed to do a top speed run on the autobahn - and the wheel trims stayed on With the 5 speed box that's all she could do, nothing more to give.. She does struggle with engine temps on full load runs a bit. It's something that's being looked into but cools down quickly again when driving a bit more "normal"
  10. Since getting back the gearbox has been changed to the spare one from the Ibiza donor car - all good again and back on the road;
  11. So it's been a very long time since I have updated this! Been manic with changing jobs and all sorts of other stuff. So all the prep work that was done previously was to get the car ready for the Worthersee trip - I'm pleased to say she made it there and back! The gearbox has been noisy for quite a while before we went but the mountain twistys killed it off.. drive back was long and slow(ish) but she done her job and got me home. We covered about 2600 miles through France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia and the Netherlands. Worthersee is very "scene" so minty stood out like a sore thumb - however that was the beauty of it, people were intrigued and asking lots of questions - and of course laughing lots So lots of pictures;
  12. Yes mate - credit to the guy who done the map is he local to you or work wherever?
  13. Went along to a rolling road day today - had no idea what to expect but am pleased with that
  14. Just a little update - unfortunately the mapping at TRP isn't happening now but in talks with someone else to get the mapping done in the future. Running out of time before Worthersee so will get done at some point. A few upgraded bits to make life a bit easier; Central locking now works on all 4 doors Electric front windows now working (royal pain in the backside!) Done an oil change, swapped rear wheels to front and bled the brakes again. Serviced the Forge dv which made a big difference - noticed the design has changed; Also added some of this stuff to the gearbox - made a big difference, a lot quieter and smoother gear changes. Next stage will be getting a 6 speed box set up, got most of the bits - just need to find the time. Sourced a HDS 6 speed fabia vrs box as I know that'll fit without notching anything. Just a case of swapping bits out and making a usable concoction. Will add some pics of my trip as soon as I can
  15. Anyone going? http://www.vwaction.com/gtispring/
  16. @NinjaVRS bought item from me, paid straight away, no hassle - thanks!
  17. Hi there, item is provisionally sold but if it falls through I'll let you know.
  18. Hi there, It does fit 2006-2013 170 tdi as per spreadsheet. I don't see why not, one does fuelling and this does throttle response so should be pretty epic together
  19. For sale is a DTUK PedalBox which was used on my Skoda Octavia vRS. Enhanced throttle response Improves overall driving experience Better response time Improves the power delivery I have attached a spreadsheet showing which cars this is compatible with. Looking for £115 inc Royal Mail Special Delivery. Any questions let me know PedalBox.xlsx
  20. Fitted some new stalks today so now the wiring that was put in place for cruise control when the dash was out is all connected and working. I don't get a light on the dash - assuming that it's not available on the standard dash but it works so am happy with that; Also swapped the steering wheel for the FR one, like it a lot more than the standard skoda one; Also forgot to say on the previous post, I have also got some 225 bam injectors to go in and getting a map done at TRP in April. Injectors should hopefully make it a bit smoother
  21. Have got some further planned upgrades, just need to find some time. Bigger brakes - 312mm fronts and vented rears going on. This means that I need bigger wheels so managed to source 4 x 16" steelies. Just need to sort some wheel trims still. Bought some replacement parts but needs to be painted - bonnet, tailgate and 2 wings. Yellow currently Going to Wörthersee in May so will hopefully get some good pics then.
