  1. the reason there is foil in this specific spot is that appears to be EGR pipe in that corner of the engine bay and it's to prevent the insulation from catching fire
  2. that 90 degrees angled connector would work just fine just make sure that the internal diameter is 10mm or so... the silicon elbow shows no signs of any reaction to oil nor have I heard anything concerning from any of the customers already running them on their cars... cheers
  3. Kevin what I do with my own time is not your concern as far as I know and just let everyone decide for himself who and what to believe in instead of spreading your negative attitude all over the place
  4. I would say this one: ASZ stage1 1.9TDI PD130/PD150 stage1 hybrids have just... we can have it made to order to fit bolt on on BLT as mentioned before it will cost extra and take 3-4 weeks
  5. quick update on the test elbow - day 20 - took the elbow out looks exactly as when it was put in the oil, checked the surfaces with sharp blade no signs of any melting down/softening etc. the elbow is now back in the oil the test will continue
  6. for 200BHP I would go for something smaller, and if it's a bolt on hybrid you shouldn't need to change any pipes unless front mount will require them
  7. the silicon hoses are heat resistant to 260C according to the manufacturer so I don't really think that it will make much of a difference especially that hot oil will drain way quicker than thick cold one
  8. because some fuels may affect it more than others and we are talking here about using it for oil return where there is no pressure and relatively small amount of oil going through (not a fuel hose where petrol or diesel for example is much more damaging) and that qualifies for a brief contact they rate them for, anyway I'm not here to argue with you if you don't like it don't buy it everyone has a free choice what to go for as I said so far no one have reported a single issue and I'm pretty sure I would be the first to know if there was one... I'm going to continue my test regardless just to be 100% sure but it doesn't seem likely for the silicon elbow to get worse any time soon.
  9. the simple truth is hardly any of the manufacturers does proper testing for all known oils/chemicals etc. and it is safer for them to say that it is not designed for use with oil rather than spend time on testing... 3rd day today since I've put the silicon elbow in the oil no signs of disintegration, no change in thickness/hardness flexibility etc as far as I can tell nothing I can see that would make me concerned I will keep watching it for as long as it takes to prove you wrong... or right
  10. the oil return is not in direct contact with oil all the time only when the car is being driven which is what? typically 1-2 hours a day in most cases? also the oil is being drained by gravity so no pressure this means that it is under very little stress and pretty much oil free for most of the time. I will do an experiment I will put the silicon oil return elbow in the oil for a month or so and will keep monitoring it to see if it's changing in any way that should equal to the oil return being on the car for like a year. So far there was not a single complaint from anyone and the first silicon hoses for making oil returns were sold like 3-4 years ago...
  11. they come with no labels I think I would know by now if they where disintegrating lol
  12. hmm I'm pretty confident that it will not happen lol these hoses are specifically made for automotive purposes they are oil/chemicals resistant
  13. it is oil resistant the walls are 5mm thick 3 Ply Silicone Coated Fiberglass Fabric Reinforcement I can't imagine it ever braking
  14. Hi, as for the issues with fitting the oil return it all depends on application and whether it is GTB22 or GTB17 and what manifold on however for some time already the oil return DIY kit is basically 90 degrees silicon elbow (pic attached) + 2 clamps and that is in my personal opinion cheap and very universal solution all you need is to use fittings from your stock oil return and sometimes cut the one on the bloc shorter then just cut the silicon elbow as required and that's it no kinking whatsoever as with any other straight pipe you can find in various so called DIY kits. As for the silicon intake coupler again on some applications it does fit just fine on others the intake pipe on the car is too high/far away we are always happy to take it back if it doesn't fit unfortunately we have no universal solution as of yet to satisfy everyone.
  15. this is GTB1756vk 2.7TDI turbo the ones stamped with GT1749VA so based on stock PD130 units are GT1756 not GTB and are direct bolt on hybrids unlike the GTBs
  16. Garrett GT1749VB PD150/PD160 turbo converted from GT1749VA unit (PD150 turbine and compressor wheel fitted in stock GT1749VA PD130 turbo) Ideal budget stage1 upgrade for PD130 engines (compressor housing can be clocked to fit Fabia vrs) or stock replacement for PD150 ARL 180-190bhp power potential at 1.55bar £420 delivered within the UK More options available including hybrids and GTB turbos.
  17. GTB1756vk 2.7TDI turbocharger, vacuum converted, welded onto stock cast 1.9TDI manifold fitted with performance 56mm billet compressor wheel. 230-250bhp power potential at 2-2.2bar of boost with proper supporting mods. £650 delivered within the UK braided oil feed £40 set of new gaskets and copper nuts £30 2.75" custom made decat downpipe £180 4bar MAP £40 DIY oil return extension kit (requires fittings from tour stock return) £15
  18. GT1856 hybrid turbo for 1.9TDI PD130/PD150 transverse engines fitted with GT18 turbine, 56mm GTX style performance billet compressor wheel and larger GT2052V compressor housing. The biggest bolt on turbo we do for these engines so please do not expect instant spool. It will make around 230-240bhp with stock PD130 injectors with 2.1-2.2bar of boost and possibly around 250 with 50-80% nozzles (with appropriate supporting mods and good custom remap!). It requires hard pipe kit since there is no clipped connection for the boost pipe. £600 posted within the UK
