That's what I understand to get the heated element to work. Can I fit a heated steering wheel without the heated element (so just a steering wheel with buttons working) being enabled or will it not work at all without the replacement clock spring?

I have just bought a 2019 SEL Exec Superb which had a steering wheel clamp previously. This has left an irremovable mark on the steering wheel. I like the idea of replacing with a heated steering wheel since this is relatively easy to do with a few extras as required from what I understand. Could I buy the steering wheel with the heated element, but simply replace my existing wheel with it. I could enable the heated element in the future? Is this possible?
