  1. Has anyone fitted a set of roof bars to a fabia with a panoramic roof ? I'd like to go mountain biking further afield but can't find anything online regarding whether roof bars can be fitted to the glass roof on my monte carlo hatchback. There appears to be no possibility of using a rear cycle carrier. For whatever reason, all the websites advise against that.
  2. I was just concerned there may be issues with the haldex 4x4. I think the 110hp diesel would be ideal for me. My previous yeti was the first generation 1.2 tsi. When I purchased it, it had already had a replacement turbo and a timing chain fix but it still used to rattle badly on a warm start up. Plus I had the stone chip issues on the rear doors. Yet despite those problems I have really missed the yeti over the past 5 years since I traded it in.
  3. Hi guys. I’ve previously owned a 2009 yeti 1.2tsi, then a 2013 Octavia 1.4tsi. I now currently have a 2016 fabia Monte Carlo. I’ve been considering going back to a yeti, but I’ve noticed the majority of yetis available are 2ltr diesel 4x4s. So I’m thinking is there an issue to look out for with those models ? It’s almost like everyone is getting rid of those models.
  4. I’ll give rainworth Skoda a call tomorrow to sort out what’s needed. Looking at my service from last year they charged for a replacement air filter. My air filter is a K&N reusable filter. I’d better check they didn’t replace it with a paper filter.
  5. Sorry to bore you with another service question but my 16 plate fabia 1.2 Tsi is showing on the maxidot display that it requires an oil service. My car is has done 22k and is on the variable service schedule. This time last year it had its inspection service, which I was charged £190 for at my local main dealer. Above the fixed price. Now I assumed that this “ oil service “ is a full service, which I certainly can’t afford as money is tight at the moment. So I called an ex vag mechanic who told me my car will only require an oil change and not a full service. Can this be true ? If my car requires a major service, will it state that in the Maxidot? If it only needs an oil change I’m reluctant to go to my dealer for fear of being ripped off again.
  6. I ran my previous octavia mk3 1.4 tsi on Tesco 99ron. It always seemed a little better and smoother. But in the 2 years of owning my fabia 1.2tsi it felt a little gutless at low revs on 99 Ron. But I carried on using it. Only recently I reverted back to using 95ron and the car picks up much better, plus my mpg has improved by about 5mpg on average. I'm definitely sticking with the recommended fuel from now on.
  7. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F233109381668 Here is the link. I fitted mine today. They look ok. They do feel cheap, but once they are on the car they look fine. The rear badge has 2 plastic lugs on the back for fitting into holes on the vehicle body. As the rear hatch has no holes to locat the lugs I removed them carefully with some long nose pliers.
  8. I purchased a pair from eBay for £26. They seem ok. Only when they arrived, the front one is glossy black and the rear is a matte black. It doesn’t really bother me much as the rear of the car always gets dirty and dull quickly anyway.
  9. Does anyone know the diameter of the bonnet and boot badge on the fabia mk 3 ? when I look online, all I find are two sizes, 80mm and 90mm.
  10. I have the same car. Same colour too. Mine is the 89hp model. I have the 17 inch alloys. I kind of wish I’d gone for the car with 16 inch wheels instead, not for comfort, but for a wider choice in tyres. So far I’ve fitted front & rear mudflaps, a K&N filter, and fitted front & rear wind deflectors. Although I’ve currently removed them. I’d love to have my front and rear badges blacked, but they ain’t cheap to buy ready done, and I’m not confident in plastidipping them myself. I would in the summer, like a remap, although I’m concerned about knackering the engine. I find with the car in that colour, you don’t really need to do too much with it. The Monte Carlo looks quite cool in black magic.
  11. Forgive me if I’m in the wrong area. I’ve been searching for a while now for a set of all season tyres for my MY16 Fabia Monte Carlo which has 17 inch wheels. It’s reached a point now where I’m thinking of swapping the 17 inch black savio alloys and tyres on my car with the 16 inch version. That way there’s a much wider choice for me. Is that my better option ?
  12. Well I’ve decided now that I’m not going for a dealer service again in future. After checking online with skoda and getting a fixed price of £159 then being asked to pay £179 after the inspection service, I’ll go to an independent in future.
  13. My car is a 16 plate with 14k miles on the clock. I do usually keep the car for 4 years or so. I believe my car is on a variable service schedule so maybe I’m wrong in assuming it’s a major service that’s due. The maxidot display says “ inspection and oil service due”. There is a garage near my workplace ran by ex Audi technicians and they specialise in vag vehicles. Maybe I should give them a call.
  14. My 30 day service warning has just come on to remind me, however this year money is very tight and the thought of paying £279 to my main dealer for a service is worrying. So this time I’m considering going to an independent to save some cash. Over the past few years I’ve always taken my skoda’s to my main dealership in Mansfield and paid a small fortune. The main reason is for the future trade in value which now I actually think it makes little difference and also because I’m told only the main dealerships can connect to a skoda database for any software updates. Is that true ? and can anyone recommend an independent service centre local to me over my main dealership ?
  15. I like the RaceChip idea for my 90hp Monte Carlo but to say it’s the exact same engine as the 110hp engine, the top RaceChip for my car will only give an extra 18hp. I was hoping for a little more, taking power to about 120hp or more.
