Hi I've installed a Westfalia towbar with the dedicated wiring harness pinned directly into the BCM and coding done via VCDS. (I used Sasha Grace's guide which worked perfectly.) Initially everything worked perfectly with no glitches. A few days later I now have an engine start/stop fault when I start the car and my parking sensors aren't working, I just get the long beep and screen says park pilot isn't available. Control module in the boot has a solid red light which was previously a green light. Spoke to PF Jones support who said the check the CAN signal on the yellow/black wire in the boot where I currently have 0v. Earth is good. OBDeleven says there is no CAN communication with the trailer control module. Has anyone had a similar issue, I assume the wiring and coding is correct as initially everything was working.

Oh VC will be next on the list Sasha I'll make sure the antenna is there, that is the software he sent me the details. I think I'm about to make a purchase. Would you agree that as long as it's unlocked etc that it will be plug and play?

Oh but it actually has the slot for the SIM in his pics. He said it has full functionality so I might be onto a decent price. I've looked at various threads here Sasha and I see you've helped lots of others before, and now me too! Thanks very much.

I think I might go for it then it'll make a big difference to the car. What's the LTE function used for Sasha?

Johnny did you go for a new VC? Is the main dealer doing it?

It's a MIB 2.5 he's selling with screen. The part number is 565 035 044. The screen that comes with it is 5E0919606D. So for £1k do you think this is good value compared to yours? It's unlocked for that price.

He's gotten back to me, he reckons it'll be another £300 to unlock it so a grand in total. He says it'll then be a plug and play affair. Was yours as simple as that? When it's unlocked will it not need coded to my car? I have my own VCDS so I may be able to do my own coding. Where would the virtual dash fit in with all this?

I've found a guy on gumtree who's selling the head unit and screen for £700. Do you think this is value Sasha? I've sent him a PM to see if he installs it as well for the price. It's the Harmon unit as well.

So what all is needed to do the upgrade SashaGrace? Have you got any pics or a link to how you did yours? It's something I'm definitely interested in doing!

I literally had this issue today with air con's first use of the season. It smelt as if wet gym gear had been left in the car! I was going to buy an air bomb tomorrow so perhaps that's not going to be enough! Hope someone has a fix.

Xman I'm going to change mine annually after seeing this. My theory is that there's clutch plates in there so clutch dust mixed with oil has made this sludge! I also expect it not to be as bad next service as I'm thinking this may be like a run in service. toni8b it is soon due anyway at 3 years old but the mileage is nowhere near the limit which you would think would be a bigger factor in the oil deteriorating than age?

Hi guys, this is my first post but I've been a follower for a while. I changed the haldex oil in MY16 Octavia VRS 4x4 DSG today. The car is under 3 years old and has covered 16k miles. The oil change itself is easy and should be well within a home mechanics capabilities. I was lucky to have the use of a lift in a mates garage but ramps would do the same thing. There's alot of uncertainty out there about the intervals of when it should be changed etc. My advice to anyone is get this oil changed every 15k. From now on mine will be done anually. With the Gen5 haldex there is no filter and the gauze on the pump is very small. It gets completely gunked up and my guess is it will starve the pump of oil. I've included pics below of my pump when I removed it today. I sourced my parts online. The oil, G 055 175 A2, was bought from a Skoda dealer (Dennis Horton) for £24. Below is the evidence this oil needs to be changed more frequently than the manufacturer recommends. With the oil changed I already notice a difference, my driveway requires reversing up an incline. Before the oil change I had to rev excessively to get the car to move up it as if I were riding the clutch. With the gauze cleaned and new oil it's zooming up the drive with hardly any extra revs and much more responsive!
