  1. I was planning on coming but I've just won a car on ebay and have been finalising the deal. Now have to book train tickets. I'll be back next month, hopefully with a new car.
  2. Just returned a positive covid test so I'm housebound for the next ten days. I feel OK, just like a cold, not even a bad one but obviously not allowed out.
  3. Don't quite know what we are arguing about here. My Favorit has the 1.3 Škoda engine. It's lovely. Not quiet but makes a nice noise. I change the oil once a year and don't have to top it up in between (only doing about 5000 miles a year). My Felicia has the VW AEE 1.6. It leaks oil from various places. Every time I fix a leak it pops out somewhere else. For the extra cc there is very little extra power. It's only plus point is it is a lot quieter but I much prefer the 1.3.
  4. Oh and those wine glasses are epic. If you do sell the car on and decide you don't want the glasses any more let me know.
  5. This is fantastic. Glad (but not surprised) you made it. Out of my three cars, Favorit, Felicia and a Triumph 1300TC the Favorit is the one I wouldn't hesitate to jump in and do something like this tomorrow. I give it a service at MOT time in February and never have to top up the oil for the whole year (which is more than can be said of the VW engined Felicia). Further more, the oil hasn't even turned black yet six months after the oil change. A friend I'd not seen in a while came down last week. He has a mk2 Golf GTD the same year as my Fav and mk1 Focus as an everyday car. He took the Favorit for a spin and couldn't believe how well it drives. He was grinning like a Cheshire cat and even laughing out loud (in a good way) at times particularly at the super slick gear change. He said it drove better than both his cars. Love the pics in Monaco, I want to take mine there now. But here's a more down to earth one. This is where it used to live, about a mile from where I'm sitting now in Southampton. It was there for years. As you say, it was a bit patchy. Looks great now. Well done.
  6. Very interesting. Just shows if you could get all the options ever offered on one Felicia it would be a very well specced car. Most of course come with hardly any. Probably not a bad thing now they're all about 20 years old.
  7. It is indeed a trip computer and I've never seen it on any UK spec car, not even the L&K's. It was an option in Europe, I've seen adverts for it when googling random Felicia stuff.
  8. Yes see, that's not the engine I was slagging off. My 1.3 is great. Not only does it use no oil, I changed the oil in January, just before its MOT and it's still oil coloured, it hasn't turned black yet. Brilliant engine.
  9. Is your Felicia a 1.3 or 1.6? If it's a 1.3 it's a proper Skoda engine as in my Favorit. If it's the 1.6 it's a VW cast off. Not only does mine burn oil it leaks it too. No sooner do I find and fix one oil leak than it pops out somewhere else. It is smoother and quieter but that seems to be its only advantage over the 1.3. Having said that I still wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere, I'd just make sure I'm carrying spare oil first.
  10. If it's well prepped it ought to do it no problem. If I had to do a long trip I'd have no hesitation in using mine out of the three cars in my fleet. Just last weekend I went to Chatham and back. 240 mile round trip and I was back in time for lunch. I change the oil every year and don't have to top it up at all in between (though obviously I still check it regularly) which is more than I can say about the crappy VW engine in the Felicia.
  11. Blimey, that thing had lived where I took that photo for years. I hadn't been round that way for a while so hadn't noticed it missing. So are you still local, Southampton area, then? Good to see someone is going to take it on, it's a bit of a Southampton landmark.
  12. Nope they both have V6 4x4 badges as can be seen in the pics.
  13. And another pic of the back of the estate. It would only let me load two pictures in the first post.
  14. Of seeing two V6s in three days?! I always find myself looking at the back of mk2s ever hopeful, but always disappointed, of seeing the telltale quad pipes. I haven't seen one in months and then I see two in three days. I don't know how many there are, checking howmanyleft isn't that helpful as they mix in mk1s with the far more common V6 diesel but I know they sold in tiny numbers. I'm sure someone here can tell me how many there are. And I bet I don't see another for about two years now.
  15. I would be a plus one to meet at West Meon and take it from there. If it's shut again then we move on but let's wait at the Hut til everyone's arrived. Wetherspoons is OK but it's the same as every other Spoons. And none of them have parking.
  16. Hi Fio, car looks good. Great colour. The 1.6 is prone to leaking from there. I replaced the gasket on mine and it still leaks, though to a lesser extent. Just have to wipe it off occasionally but it is a tiny amount, not enough to show on the dipstick. Although as Riccardo says the 1.6 is a bit of an oil burner. Mine has done since we've had it but it hasn't got worse in 40k miles. My old 1.3 by contrast never used a drop between oil changes even when it was up to 140k! Just keep an eye on the oil level especially after a long run.
  17. Felicia Mystery. Yes I know we've already done this but this one I saw with my own eyes! We've just spent a few days in Budapest. This day it rained all day (apart from the hour or so when it turned to snow) so I managed to convince my wife to take a bus ride into the suburbs (it was a dry option). We went out on a bus and back on a tram and I found this on the short walk from bus to tram. Made my day.
  18. Not impressed with this new forum. It won't let me put any more pictures on saying something about 4mb maximum. But the whole layout looks more like the old mobile site which I never used even on my mobile. All the profile info and signatures have gone. Looks cheap.
  19. This apparently is a Pierburg 2e3. They were used extensively on VWs of the period and apparently are quite troublesome. I'm sure Ricardo has written plenty on here about them, assuming it's the same as the ones used on Felicias. I shall have to start reading up on them. Love the colour of yours by the way. I like these bright non metallics. They do stand out in the modern sea of black/grey/white.
  20. Nice to see you got that one and it's gone to a member on here. I was watching that one but Nottingham is a bit far and I'm still not brave enough to bid on cars without seeing them. So then I started watching another one near Norwich. This used to belong to someone on here so I contacted him about it. This time I thought I may be brave enough to bid as I knew it was good one. But whilst I was watching that, this turned up a mere seven miles away! I went to see it and it was blocked in by six other cars in a little workshop. I couldn't even get up the side of it. But the guy suggested a price I couldn't refuse so I said yes there and then. I went back a couple of days later once he'd dug it out. So here we have a mk1 with 27,000 miles. This sounds low but it seems so many of them have very low mileage. It's been stood a couple of years. I picked it up last Tuesday and took it straight to MOT. Needed a few jobs but nothing serious. It's going back for its retest this afternoon. The main problem seems to be with the carb. It hesitates when you first pull away. But I'll get the MOT first so I can use it then work on that.
  21. Sorry to go off topic but hello Papez it's good to see someone on here from Czech Republic (and with a Felicia Sportline too!).
  22. Cheers, be good to see some pictures at some point. Before or after new wheels.
  23. Actually, just thought, Tom's car passed to a guy called Bete Noir on here and I see in the more recent pictures he's running different wheels. Might be worth giving him a PM. See the 1.8 transplant thread in the classic project section.
  24. This was Tom's car when he first did it. Very understated. Though I've just been looking for these on eBay and there's only one set on there and that's £350!. Although they do have tyres on them. Still seems rather steep though, I'm sure Tom got his for about £40 each new. Paying extra for VW scene tax I guess.
  25. Ok,I'll bear that in mind if I get another Favorit! I think my Ronal Turbos would look good on one being quite sharp an angular.
