What mileage has it done?
It had covered 39000. With full regular services.

MrMatt. Octavia VRS TSI. 39000 miles. It's 2 months out of Skoda warranty. I purchased it from a dealer less than 3 weeks before the problem occurred. I have not yet had the report of what's happened. Suspected timing chain tensioner issue. The dealer has informed my Skoda will not help regarding the cost, repair etc..

My 59 plate VRS TSI engine failed today. I have owned the car for less than 3 weeks. The dealer I bought the car from have been very good so far so fingers crossed there. I was only reading this post last night and was going to get the tensioner replaced/upgraded very soon. With mine it takes the engine failures to 6. I am amazed that skoda have not said something about this potentially expensive issue. I will keep you updated on how it goes and also what will need replacing.

I decided on the Blue after my last 3 cars being white and I wanted a change.

Hi. Just thought I would introduce myself. Just got home with my new Octavia VSR 59 TSI FL. I have owned a Fabia VRS for the last 4 years. The Octavia is in a different class. The misses wanted a white one but I wanted the racing Blue. There is a Race Blue estate on my drive.
Bye for now, going for a drive.
Worth replacing chain tensioner in a 59 vRS 2.0 tsi as precaution?

I was without my car for 1 week its back and running well. the dealer I purchased it from replaced the head, inlet valves, timing chain and updated tensioner. As I had only got the car 3 weeks before this happeded it was under warranty from the dealer so didn't cost me anything. The dealer was very good throughout and dealt with the situation very well.
