Disappointed no suggestions but for possible interest of others it was eventually found to be a failing coil - spark in the air but not always under pressure until it failed completely.

This subject came up once before. The new thermostats don't seal properly and you need to use a bit of instant gasket. This solved it for me.

We have a strange fault with out Fun. Twice now, after parking it would not start but did start hours or a day later. Once we had only stopped for petrol and once we returned home and parked overnight. There appeared to be a spark. For weeks in between it behaved normally. Any ideas?

Yes, it had a front ARB but I didn't save the subframe and wishbones when the shell went for scrap.

Sorry to be slow in responding. Haven't got the main engine bracket. I presume the mirrors would fit if yours are electric.

The sun roof is off now (actually very easy when you know how), £10 collect only. Still several parts available. The body shell will be going to the scrap merchants unless somebody wants it.

Yes, it has a sunroof but I haven't worked out how to remove it! Do you know? The power steering bits have gone. The cills look good as it is low mileage but I am not into cutting the shell up at the moment.

I have attached a picture showing the grill - appears to be approx rectangular and chrome edge. It does not have central locking. It was a 1600 with 38000 miles but the engine has gone.
