Canton come from the old French for corner. It can be used to describe areas cut into administrative areas. Just as Hong Kong was a canton from China, administrated by the British. And in reference to flags, to mean a 'square charge', is the area in the top left of a flag such as on Australian flags, the Union Flag is the canton within their flag.

Does anyone know if the transmission tunnel covers from either the Karoq, Scala/Kamiq, etc... are compatible with that of the VW Golf Mk7?

Will do mate. They thought they were a new thing but looking at when this was first posted (December 2017), it seems I just never saw them. The whole package of two blankets and cases, two lounge mats and two headrests is £325-350. But I've got the lounge mats (given by a very kind person on here) already and no need for the blankets.

When you say Back to Black doesn't work. Does the plastic you mention look like new when it's wet as opposed to still looking faded? If so, then a good trim restorer or coating like Gtechniq C4.

No mate. You are right. Nine years is the correct number. Make sure it is Crystal Serum Ultra (which is accredited dealer application only) and not just Crystal Serum Lite (which can be bought by anyone and only five years durability). Any detailer worth their salt will be happy to talk about care and maintenance of the product.

No. Crystal Serum Ultra is a dealer accredited application product and Rob in at Gtechniq has extensively tested it with the help from Kelly at KDS Keltec in Gillingham, Kent.

They are good. You don't need a massive resin vessel like some of them have. I picked my 0ppm water filter for £20, supposed to be good for 20 washes, and it only uses about a fifth or sixth of the amount of resin beads as the large vessels. But if you open end sheet as much water as you can off, then use Gtechniq C2v3 (which you can dilute down 2:1 to use as a drying aid) to collect the other remaining water droplets and add that little extra protection.

Only issues has been the stop/start, sometimes it can take a little longer than the 1.4TSi to go, the engine starts, but push the accelerator and there is a bit of lag or it'l move off, then almost stall, but it's less and less as the car beds in.

Gtechniq CSU is a new ball game when it comes to coatings, it's highly durable so if you want ease, simply Gwash, filter rinse and dry. If you don't have a filter then best practice would be to sheet off as much water as you can by using an open ended hose to dry the car as much as you wish, then drying the car. But even coated cars, with the best will in the world, will get some water spots as the water dries up leaving mineral deposits behind, the benefit of coatings is the water spots do less if any damage to the car.

The depending on your coating, aftercare should of been explained to you, a good detailer would of explained how. Generally a shampoo with no gloss enhancers, etc... such as Gyeon Bathe and Gtechniq Gwash are best, followed up with a sealant such as Gyeon Cure or Gtechniq C2v3 which can be used as a drying aid. You can use a QD as a drying aid if you live in a hard water area but just as good is buying a water filter and rinsing the car off after washing and then drying it. I always use a sealant as a drying aid for it's durability and added protection of the coating below to aid it's longevity. Remember whatever you use as a drying aid, etc... is what performance you'll get in regards to beading, sheeting water behaviour.

I use Auto Brite Jaffa Clean, it's a cleaner, degreaser and protectant in one. Dilute 1/5 for regular cleaning and use neat for heavily soiled. I spray on, agitate with a brush in all the nooks and crannies and then wipe up with a few used but clean microfibre cloths. It's great on door shuts, etc... too, spray on, agitate if you wish and pressure wash off. I've used it for ten years+. With spray and wipe it's much easier to avoid anything remotely electrical.

We wanted to go estate this time so my sister's and step-brother's dogs don't do a number on the interior like they did with Piglet (they scuffed the door card plastics and even with seat guard on, they still managed to leave claw marks on the seats). I wanted Velvet Red Metallic on Modus alloys but the wait as I say was too long for me. They had several black SE L Execs in the system we could of gone for but wanted to steer away from black for cleanliness reasons and white because of taxis. I could of lived with black easily because I've managed to find the perfect combo of using Gtechniq Gwash (via snow foam lance) as a shampoo then using Gyeon Cure as a drying aid or using CarPro HydroFoam (sealant and shampoo applied via snow foam lance), it works great on a colleagues Ninth Gen black Honda Civic. Thanks I wanted Velvet Red Metallic with Modus alloys but it was too late to add anything else to the order. It is very understated and more of a slightly dirty silver metallic really when you stand up next to it.

New girl arrived just before March, so 68 plate. Superb Estate SE-L Executive 1.5 TSI, Cappuccino Beige Metallic. Not the colour I wanted but with a 16 week wait, this one was in the system with a four week lead time, she arrived in just under three weeks. She's called Sandy.

Snow foam isn't 100%, like citrus sprays, they are a pre-wash to remove as much dirt as they can and any dirt left behind can be removed easier and more safely with the 2BM. I use Gtechniq W4 Citrus Foam, but sometimes I'll just use Gtechniq Gwash, pressure rinse/wash, then a less dense foam of Gwash and the 2BM with Gwash in a bucket. Other times I'll spray some Bilt Hamber Surfed or Valet Pro All Purpose Cleaner on and the foam. It depends on what the car needs, what the car is saying/telling me, how much time I have, what's the weather like, etc...

The cabin and boot floor carpet is an arse to get short dog hairs out so I treated her to some Travail rubber floor mats to make the cabin floor easier to look after the boot to be honest could do with a new floor, spare wheel cover as the fibres are pilling and dog hairs thoroughly imbedded into the fibres.

That car belonged to a dog walker who also does doggy-daycare.

Had a Mk2 estate 1.4TSI and now a Mk3 liftback 1.4TSi ACT. There's very little in it. The Mk2 is still a very nice place to be. Friends and neighbours always though it was a Mercedes, very understated looks while the Mk3 is much sharper looking, gets people looking at it. Unfortunately the Mk3 done away with the physical lever handbrake which took a little getting used to. The 1.4 isn't lacking in power and can be very brisk if asked without any whining. Go for the petrol Mk3 unless and really clean Mk2 comes up for a great price.
