Power steering noise

Featured Replies

When I'm on full lock or near it on my octy, I can sometimes hear a slight groaning noise. Only occasionally though.

Any ideas?

had that one! check your fluid level, if its low, bubbles get in the system and make it noisy.

make sure you get the correct fluid though, and when you top it up turn the wheel to full lock both ways a few times to get the bubbles out.

i think they are just a bit noisy on full lock anyway, i know mine is.

but yeah, check the fluid level as per the cars manual.

Thanks, what fluid is it?

Mineral fluid from VAG, green in colour.

You will always get noise on lock, best not to hold it on or you will damage the pump.

Agreed. It's not even Skoda or VAG specific; the noise changes sometimes, but all PAS make some noise if you pull the rack against the lock stop.

I've topped up with Comma CHF 11S (Meets VW/Audi G 002 000/TL52146).

Welcome to the Comma Oil & Chemicals Ltd. Website

It's listed as the correct stuff for a vRS on the Comma website, and meets the specs.

I generally dont get fluids from Skoda dealers as they rip you off a bit on things like that.
