Fabia With Dsg Box

Featured Replies

:confused:I read in the Auto Express magazine that the new Seat Ibiza with have the new lightweight 7 speed DSG semi-:confused:auto box. Is there any news/hope of Skoda using it in the new Fabia. It is a superb box and I am driving it in a VW Golf but I am a Skoda man at heart.

You're driving the older 6spd. wet clutch in your Golf no?!?

The Fabia is rumored as well as likely to be offered with this option yet not likely till after it arrives in the Ibiza Sport/FR & possibly not until it arrives in the Polo replacment... Yet that would be the newer 7spd dry set-up witch I understand works quite nicely with the 1.4TfSI/TSI 125-170hp options!!!

In the Skoda line-up, one could order the 6spd DSG variant for some time now. While the 7spd will debut in the SuperbII on the 1.8TfSI 160hp option...

Not sure its relevant but the Fabia 2 uses the same platform as they Fabia 1, they just jazzed it up a little. The New Ibiza is the first one on a new platform.

I would love to see DSG in the Fabia, but the current 6 speed tiptonic is a very good gearbox, and at the moment I beleive it's the only 6 speed torque converter automatic in a small car, it intergrates with the ESP System (Holds gears in corners) and offers good performance and economy

I can see the Fabia being left with this gearbox as SEAT is aiming towards being a sporting brand

Another bad rumor! Just like when the FabiaI came out in 99 & then the Ibiza in 02 people were saying virtually the same thing!!! Of course we know the reality now & should prove the same in the coming months here as well.

Not sure what you mean but from what i've seen the new Ibiza uses a different suspension set up like the new Polo will, the Fabia 2 however is using identical suspension and body as the Fabia 1.

I am interested in fitting a DSG box to my 04 Fabia vRS.

Is this possible?

Very good point!

Yet other than the vRS rumors that leeds me to beleive we'll see it as on option on the Fabia II...

The 7spd DSG helps cut the fuel consumption over the manual option, So I dare say that we may see it become available in a greenline model in the future. My money is on a Gasoline Combi Greenline version showing up before the FabiaIII starts to reach the auto shows in say 5 years. Yet could show up in 3 or fewer if there were enough incentive...:thumbup:

Anything is possible given enough time and money. About 3k for a new box iirc..lol. Lots to change, gearbox (obviously), dash cluster, wiring, ecu and the fact that it communicates via can bus and the can bus on the Fabia is too basic.

Anything is possible!

It WILL cost a fair bit! In fact why bother

Not sure what you've seen yet the boys over at SeatCupra.net Regularly use bits especially the Front ARB off the FabiaIvRS... As well as in the reverse for instance the Seat Sport Strut-Bar & Cupra solid bushings!!!

Here maybe this will help clear things up for you.

I hope You are taking this in now Ross! ;)

As others have already suggested with enough time/money/patience anything can be acomplished...

Yet why not look at one of the many wonderful options this is already offered in or just be patient till they add it to the options list on the FabiaII/Roomster!!!

Yeah, have done a lot of that myself. I am talking about the new Ibiza that is out this year. Different chassis set up to the current (MK4 Ibiza) and Fabia 1+2

Glad your up to speed then. Figured you should be based on your current drive...

Yet if you reread my original comment:

"Another bad rumor! Just like when the FabiaI came out in 99 & then the Ibiza in 02 people were saying virtually the same thing!!! Of course we know the reality now & should prove the same in the coming months here as well."

Unfortunately there's as of yet no proof that the New Ibiza is using anything other than the same FabiaII's carried over platform...:thumbdwn:

The same engine line up & anything but stellar first drive reviews are part of the reasoning!:(

Only going on what I have been told by techinical on the last training course I went on at Wymbush, kinda hope they would know about it. Could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time. I guess time will tell.

However looking to next Gen once the next A3 and Mk6 Golf are out everything from Polo to Passat will use the same modular chassis to save production costs.

Can't blame you for what very well may turn out to be misinformation...

I'm sure the tunning on the New Ibiza is meant to be quite a bit sportier/stiffer than the FabiaII's, goes along with Audi helping them with this & vis-a-versa for the upcoming A1 !!!

Not sure if they will litterly use the same Modular-Chassis or if they will each share chassis components in much the same way the PassatVI/JettaV/EOS/GolfV/SuperbII/PassatCC... do! Will be interesting to see how they attempt to pull this off.

I know what you mean, but they have to do something to even out costs, the Mk5 Golf has hit them hard.

Lets hope whatever comes out its put together a damn site better than the current line up. Cant wait for the CC and Scirocco...not.

Anyhow, gone a bit OT here...lol.

Yeah I suppose so...:offtopic:

So back on topic, The 7spd DSG in the FabiaII is a definite "maybe"!!!:sofahide::orb_laugh

Skisb, is this confirmed? ....the 7spd will debut in the SuperbII on the 1.8TfSI 160hp option...

Thanks

It appears that there are no real plans to offer the new DSG box in New Fabia. Albeit that rumours abound. Perhaps I'll go for an Ibiza when that appears. Cheers all
