Is it just me but I find the LCD display on my 56 Octy Elegance Est impossible to read under most ambient lighting unless the headlights are on which activates the backlight. I suppose I could pretend to be a Volvo driver and have the lights on all the time but it doesn't seem right in midsummer... Is there any easy way to have the dash light/backlight come on when the ignition is on?

IIRCi don,t think its a feature that you can change with VAGCOM.

Hi everyone, I have a 2006 Skoda Octavia II, 1.9 TDI, engine code BKC, around 400,000 km. Symptoms: - Central locking works perfectly fine (all doors lock/unlock with both remote and key) - The trip computer/dashboard display works normally - shows mileage, trip info, and door-open warning - However, when I turn the ignition key, NO ignition warning lights come on (no battery light, no oil light, etc.) and the starter motor does not engage at all - completely dead on ignition Important context:

I have been looking around for a basic cheap run around - automatic - but witout much success. There is a 2002 Fabia 1.4 16V Classic 5dr forr sale near me. £2700 (which is overpriced I feel) with 66500 miles on the clock and it says 1 previious keeper. Am I mad to be considering a 24 year old car? I just missed out on a 2013 fabia though I was worried about the DSG gearbox. I used to have sometime ago a 2003 Skoda fabia and loved it. But I'm worried about taking on such a old car. I m

Hey guys, I need to keep a 2kg fire extinguisher in my car due to legal requirements in Greece and I’m trying to figure out the best mounting spot. My main concern is securing it properly so it doesn’t rattle or move around while driving. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s dealt with this — where did you mount yours, and did you use a dedicated bracket or holder? Any tips on keeping it secure without damaging the interior would be great. Thanks in advance!

First time starting a project thread, bear with me... Heard about this Roomster not too far from me that might be heading for a scrapyard, and decided to try to acquire it. After dropping a wodge on the Outback for a new battery only for the tailgate issues to immediately recur and funnily enough for a internet search to suddenly (wasn't before) flag that there is a persistent and long standing Subaru issue with a parasitic battery drain via the telematics module. Basically the car continually tries to phone home and drains the battery, the tailgate control module is acutely sensitive to voltage meaning that if the car has sat for more than a day (sometime less) th
