a few issues

Hi Guys,

My 1.8T Comfort has just ticked over the 100k mark. I've started to notice a few things, any ideas?

-The car seems less sure footed on the road, the bumps arn't soaked up as well as they used to and it seems to be more difficult to keep it on the road without having to constantly alter the steering wheel position.

-The car seems very "jerky" in gears 1 and 2

-It feels that the car is lacking some of its power recently, I had a Peugeot 306 keep up with me on the way home tonight which was strange! The turbo kicks in but it seems that its not got the get up and go it used to have?

-A smell of petrol fumes when I'm driving slowly or stationary and have the aircon on AUTO.

Any ideas on the problems and solutions would be great!!

Chris

I had a similar smell whilst stationary with my 1.8T. Turned out to be a perished vacuum pipe at the rear of the engine. It had split and there were tell tale signs - a wet oily deposit around the general area. Cost a few quid to replace, easy job ;-)
