need tips on how to hardwire this to power lead, to cig lighter bit messy

If you have an aftermarket head unit, you can easily tap off a switched 12V (so only live when the ignition is on) or a permanent 12V from the ISO lead. Also, if you want to have a permanent installation, you can easily pass cables through one of the plastic button / blanking bits above the stereo (where you have the ASR light, ESP, heated seats, etc).
