When to replace items?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have basically just acquired:

2000 Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI Estate

85,000 Miles

However I don't think it's ever had it's Cam Belt replaced. It has been serviced annually though (at the same time as it's MOT). In September the MOT is up and I obviously need to get it serviced at the same time.

I'm just wondering if there is any other work I should have done? Should I get the Cam Belt / Timing Belt replaced?

I've checked the Service Schedule which is a bit vague.

Does anyone have some kind of guide with mileage / age?

Thanks,

M.

If you don't think it's ever had the cambelt replaced, get it done now!! Not in September, now! Did I say the cambelt is probably 25_000 miles overdue for replacement and needs doing now if you're right?

Get the cambelt done now! better safe than sorry. I dont know if the diesels have problems with the water pump like the petrols?

The diesels aren't as bad, because they don't run as hot anyway.

Thanks. Looking into getting it replaced now. I'm just going to ring a couple of garages up and ask for prices and try and book it in soon.

Cheers.
