Plastic trim

Featured Replies

What do you all use to keep the exterior plastic trims looking good on your cars.I have tried meguiars and autoglym products and they only seem to last a week and then they go back to being grey and dull.

Thanks

Same here with Simoniz jet black whatever it's called. Looks great when applied and a week later like I never did anything to it. I have read somewhere one suggestion is to heat up the trim with a hair dryer first and then apply the products as it helps the plastic accept them or something.

Peanut butter (smooth) has also been recommended but again I found the time I used it it wore off, although probably not as quickly as the Simoniz stuff.

i use a little boiled linseed oil rubbed well in

it lasts for years

Its annoying to have to do every time i wash the car.:thumbdwn:

Get them colour coded. lol

i second that motion.......far easier to maintain!

Strange but on the black beast 51 plate the black stays black for ages...on my red 03 plate as soon as you wash it the trim goes grey ;-(

I have brought some Chemical Guys - New Look Trim Gel it looks very nice when its on,lets see how long it lasts.

some people have recommended a heat gun but i wouldn't recommend it. the idea been it heats the plastic and softens it and makes it look fresher like new.

i find with some products it ends up running and looking aweful, however i have found the simoniz silicon spray to be good for under the bonnet applications and a few coats works wonders.

as for trim id try the hair dryer and linseed oil. other ones is try getting some new trims and giving it some good applications over a few weeks but make sure theres no excess left on the trims.

I use Autoglem bumper gaurd or what ever its called. lasted ok on the Landy.

KlearKote Rubber and Vinyl dressing, best i've used :)

Colour coding sucks on the Octy vRS IMO :)
