Aerial weirdness.

Featured Replies

Hi chaps,

Should a VW aerial fit the Skoda base? Ive popped off the original one with some yanking and cant fit the supposedly new OEM one Ive got from ebay as the thread isnt long enough, it only sticks out of the base of the aerial by a few mm whereas the original one is something like 10mm long.

yeah its annoying that!

the one on our cars is some anti theft type, with small thread and a lug thing on the end.

Honda S2000 ones fit it, but I found a Ripspeed one with changeable threads that fitted also.

Ones that claim standard VW fitment wont fit it, as you discovered!

AFAIK all VAG cars (or at least Skoda, VW, Seat) have the very same aerial. I know for sure that the aerials on my Felly and SWMBO's Octy Mk1 are perfectly interchangeable and on the Octy we replaced the original with an unbranded one, said to fit "VAG" cars (unspecified), without any problems.

Wonder if your ebay supplier is trustworthy?

Ive checked his ebay feedback and they all seem to be happy with it! I would be too if the male thread on the aerial was 5mm longer :Z
