  1. There not binding , the brakes work nicely and which ever one was binding would be a lot hotter than the others . I put £35 of tesco momentum in on Monday and its been reading 24mpg since then , just been on A roads to and from work and school runs etc since then . I put quarter bottle of redex in before topping up. It filled up to a notch over half a tank and had gone down to a notch under half and I've done 80miles
  2. Its the 2007 one so is getting on abit although I would still say in a whole its a decent bit of kit . Anyway I got a USB card reader which came with a micro SD card adaptor for £1 lol , found a old micro SD card and put loads of music on that its all worked fine and much easier . What sort of movie files will it play I tried mpeg but didn't work
  3. Does the Columbus unit in a 2007 Octavia not play mp3 through CD ? I've tried burning multiple mp3 CDs and the head unit is just sating error with CD / DVD . Do they only read mp3 files off SD card ? Or am I doing something wrong?
  4. Yes I changed the air filter , oil + oil filter on Monday . Cleaning the inlet valves by removing the manifold and using carb cleaner is not a hard job anyway so it will be worth it for me just to do it when I'm next off work in a couple of weeks .
  5. Are the catch cans any good for helping to prevent carbon build up there's quite a few videos on YouTube when you type in catch can for 2.0tfsi and they seem to catch quite a lot. I'm going to take the inlet manifold off and give the valves a good clean even if there's not alot of build up on ? Why did they build direct injection if it was going to cause this many problems and reduce mpg and performance anyway . Any gains in design have been lost by design
  6. Hello I'm getting really poor mpg out of my vrs I found out of the previous owner that it was quite a while ago he part ex'd the car with his boss so its been stood , my mpg has started to go up slightly in the 2 weeks I've had it and serviced it. These are my first 2 tanks results .... (1st fill not full tank ) I put in £25 of shell vpower at £1.28 , it took the gauge from the top of reserve to half a tank . I reset the trip meter at the petrol station , and when the needle had got back to the top of reserve my trip said I had done 90 miles And the mpg display said around 18.7mpg all the way , all around town and country lanes not been on the motorway yet . 2nd fill.. I put in asda fuel £30 @ £1.10 , so 27litres 6 gallons And covered 120 miles so worked out 20mpg Did a small motorway trip really small and mpg reading went up to 26mpg and has stayed like that for last couple of days around town . I rarely go past 1.8x revs because I've drove diesel for years so not used to taking the engine past it , tho I have done a bit of foot down but only a little blast and still only up to about 3.5x revs .
  7. The air filter was metal lined panel filter type looked okish but its hard to tell without dipping it in petrol to clean it . I've done a service now got all the stuff from eurocarparts, I put £30 of asda petrol in a few days ago @ £1.10 so 27litres = 6 gallons and just covered 120 miles My mpg screen is saying 25mpg after doing a short motorway trip from Bolton to Manchester and back , but it has stayed on 25mpg since . But I've worked it out at only doing 20mpg Could it be possible MAF sensor I've read engine doesn't have to be on
  8. Yea I found the OK/reset button , I didn't know it reset the mpg as well lol . Gone back up to 26 now but I've not been in it for long this morning . If I am getting poor mpg , because on my last half a tank I only managed 90miles to the top of reserve line , what could it be? Will it be running too rich? I'm 25miles into my 2nd half a tank so will have to see how many I get this time, I've just changed oil + filter and air filter .
  9. How do you zero the average mpg ? Do you mean the mpg reading with the little circle with the line through it next to it? I put in £25 of shell vpower at £1.28 , it took the gauge from the top of reserve to half a tank . I reset the trip meter at the petrol station , and when the needle had got back to the top of reserve my trip said I had done 90 miles And the mpg display said around 18.7mpg all the way , all around town and country lanes not been on the motorway yet . I didn't have time to drive to my nearest tesco station yesterday so I did put £30 at asda drive thru at £1.11, Now its back on half a tank But the mpg reading went straight up to 27.7mpg but after 10 miles has dropped to 20mpg. I rarely go past 3.5 thousand revs because I've drove diesel for years so not used to taking the engine past it , tho I have done a bit of foot down but only a little blast and still only up to about 4.5 - 5 thousand revs .
  10. Does anybody know what size are the rear door speakers in a 2007 Octavia vrs?
  11. What size are the speakers in the front and rear doors on a 2007 Octavia vrs ? I've just got the car and only thing I'm disappointed with up to now is the sound quality is shocking ... My 2003 superb speakers where well better. Its a shame because the Columbus unit sits sweet and smooth looking and then try and turn sound up a little a bit and its like 90's Clio . Anyway so I don't have to take the door cards off just to check and put em on off just to take them off again ,. I was just wondering if anybody knew what size Speaker's they are
  12. So mines probably about 10-12 mpg , that's is not good . I was told that the 2.0 tfsi is quite efficient for a 2.0 turbo . Obviously no diesel in mpg but you know not as bad as you would expect. I put £25 in of vpower @ 1.28 a litre , the gauge was on just top of the reserve and it took it to half a tank , when it gets to the top of the red again I will see how many miles my trip says ive done. If I'm getting really poor mpg what could it be ?
  13. But is yours the TDI ? Mines the 2.0 tfsi
  14. Bit off topic but I'm getting 18.5 mpg out of my 2.0 tfsi . Is this really bad ? That's just normal driving and its the mpg reading which stays at a steady reading , not the display what goes up and down all the time
