Mk Oct VRS CD changer mounting

Featured Replies

How is the standard boot CD changer mounted? I've bought one second hand and it came with the U shaped metal casing with the grey carpet on one side , but I can't see how that this fixes securely to anything.

My Octy is being built next week, and you missed out the Mk number in your title, but from what I have read, it fits in one of the side compartments in the boot, the one with the rear-screen washer-water pipe. Somewhere on here there is guidance on fixing a join in that pipe, and the changer has to be removed to do it. There may be pictures.

Edit: Thread here

Hi - its a Mk1. I've had a look at that thread , and it looks like the estate has a cd changer mounting bracket , but I'm sure the Vrs doesn't have this.

As you look at the boot (VRS Hatch) you have a compartment at each side. One will have some netting on it, the other is where the CD Changer goes. It stands on end with the tray pointing up.

Don't have any pictures, but I did see some in the photos section

Thanks. I know its goes in right hand side cubby hole and is screwed to the carpet covered fame i mentioned , but is it secured to the car in any way? It seems a bit stange just to rest it in place standing on its side.

The bracket uses the bumber mounting bolts IIRC.

Steve, it sounds like you are missing the metal bracket that bolts to that side of the car.

If you pull back the carpet you should see the 2 holes for the mounting bolts, on the rear 3/4 panel along with 2 thin slits in the carpet where 2 metal mounts should pop through, that the u shaped cover mounts onto. But like I said it sounds like the whole bracket is missing.
