Euro 2008 goals

Quite impressive!

Bit like hawkeye for Euro 2008. :D Van Nistelroy was definitely off-side.

No he wasn't.

This has been discussed quite a lot here (since the referee was Swedish). But (as bbc has it):

"Chairman of Austria's refereeing commission Gerhard Kapl backed the decision by Swedish referee Peter Frojdfeldt and said it was "100% correct, without any doubt".

Kapl pointed out that article 11.4.1. of the refereeing code stipulated that "an opposing player cannot be offside when one of the last two defenders has left the field of play".

Apparently the article aims at stopping players just to jump off the pitch to create offside traps. OK, Panucci didn't leave the pitch intentionally, but it seems as if the article holds nevertheless.

Apologies! I retract my first comment having read swedishskoda's informative post! Great match for the neutral.

Edit: the BBC Euro2008 site is showing 10 minute highlights of all games for those who prefer to see the real thing, but it's only for peeps in the UK.

Loved the match, best one yet.

Agreed. France was a big disappointment (but Ribéry was good).

I'm just afraid that Greece will do a great performance tonight

Clearly onside and a good decision. Cracking game :)
