Running Rough On Start-Up

Featured Replies

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a Mk1 Octavia Vrs (53 Plate). I have had this car now since Febuary of this year and have been very happy with it, However on cold starts the car sounds like it has a miss-fire for about 5 seconds and then it runs as normal. i have also noticed that it has been warming up much faster than it did before. Me not being mechanically minded wondered weather this is a common thing on this model.

kind regards

:)

How many miles on it ????

They do sound like a diesel for a second or two,

Could be .....MAF, coil pack, dirty throttle body, spilt vacuum pipe. Ideally you need it scanned for fault codes, does it run well the test of the time.

They are know for lumpy running from cold, your doesn't sound too bad, some people can't drive theirs until the secondry air pump (sounds like a fan during cold start lasts about a minute)has finished doing it's thing.

Yea. the car runs superb after. Now i no they are a bit lumpy in the mornings thats 1 worry off my mind. and as you say it could be one of many things. i.e warming up quicker. it takes about 6 mins from a cold start to be fully warmed up ?

thanks.:)

Sounds about right , don't forget the ambient temps are higher now than Febuary so it should get warmer quicker in theory.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, if it get any worse or starts missing or going into limp mode cross that bridge when you get there.
