A/C voltage?

Featured Replies

Hi fellas! my aircon is not working! does anyone know what voltage should be at the pump? is there a relay in situe somewhere? pump seems fine lots of gas no fault codes on vagcom ect? too hot without it just now:eek:

Cheers guys:thumbup: Lee

Are you asking for the air con clutch voltage (or some other air con component?).

If it’s the clutch (in general) the battery voltage less small loss via the cables and switches is applied, it needs a high current.

If the air con clutch is visible then when it’s switched on (engine running) it engages. It cycles on and off periodically. If this is happening the clutch is working.

If not:

Good Voltage at the clutch power terminals – could be a clutch failure. Auxiliary belt slip or compressor seized.

No Voltage:

In line fuses need to be good, of course, as should switches and cables.

Refrigerant pressure is monitored via pressure switches while the system is static and running.

Low pressure (static) will hold the compressor off.

High pressure (dynamic) the clutch engages and quickly switches off, usually a fault code or warning given in the management system if sophisticated enough.
