Skoda breakers in South Yorks area

Featured Replies

Hello finally got to the bottom of why my Octavia 1.9TDI Elegance went bang, con rod snapped on not one but 2 places,as I had already just spent £800 on it ,I feel I would be just chucking more money at an item that finacially is not worth it,so have decided to scrap, does anyone know of somewhere I would get a more than £200 in Worksop area, engine is shot but car had only done 65000 from new

Break it yourself on fleabay, you may get more

Why not just get a second hand engine and either keep it or sell it as a working car.

Lummox on here isn't up your way but has done an engine swap on a 1.9 ASV engined car with a resulting very happy owner :)

I mean 1k to swap the engine so you can sell a 65k TDI for at least 3k second hand I would have thought.

Agree just pop another engine in:thumbup: makes more sense.

Agreed, it makes more sense to replace the engine. The cost of fixing the car, will far outway the price you will get for it when sold. Either take £300 for it now, or spend about 1K on it and sell for 3K or more, its a no brainer.

If you sell it to a breaker, my guess is they will give you the £300, fit a secondhand engine in it, and the sell it for at least £3K.

Or sell it for £600 and offer to sell the new owner a second hand engine for around the £1k mark to put in it.
