Reduced RPM during kickdown

Featured Replies

Pls help me , ive got a 2000 octavia I , 1,6 GLXi , Automatic transmission.

Motorcode is AEH ( i think)

my problem is , during kickdown my rpm will not exceed approx 5200 rpm, so my transmission wont shift gear.

Usually when i push throttle all the way in the transmission shifts at 6k rpm, at regular driving the gear shifts at 5k rpm. When im trying to bypass a car at highway i cant kickdown anymore cause im stuck at 5,2k rpm, so i have to reduce throttle to switch back to regular program in gearbox so it switches at 5k rpm.

The only thing I can suggest is check the fluid level, and get the car scanned with VAG-COM.

What sort of mileage has it done? If it's over 80_000 km, I'd start by draining and replacing the transmission oil (original source ZF transmissions, and if they don't know about automatics...).

It have been rolling 71k km now, Dont think its the transmission, after some tests i found out that transmission seems ok, think the problem is that the engine cuts at 5200 rpm.

Transmission gears correctly at all 4 gears in normal mode, but when i kickdown its not supposed to shift before approx 6k rpm, but my engine cuts at 5,2k rpm (like its falling down 200 rpm , then going back up to 5,2k , then back to 5k again ans so on)

I have time at the workshop (where i bought my car from) next monday, so i hope they find out whats wrong, still have warranty since i bought that car from them for 1 month ago and i got 3 month used car warranty.

Thanks for help so far, i keep you updated.

I'd suspect bad plugs and/or coil packs. If they have a fault reader they should be able to determine which easily.
