Looking at a Skoda Octavia Ambience 1.9TD Estate

Featured Replies

It's a Dec '06 car with 55k on the clock, from my brother in laws work. The car did a lot of motorway work hence the mileage, it didn't carry anything and wasn't a taxi. It seems to be fairly well looked after but needs a good clean inside. His firm want 6k for it, which seems like a good deal to me? Am I right, and is there anything I should look out for on this car?

From reading around they seem reliable, and it seems like it would still have a few months/miles of it's waranty left.

thanks in advance.

£6K seems very good price:thumbup:

Look at things like clouding of the front windscreen at the bottom due to lamination problem.(looks milky colour)

Water inside footwells and boot.

Wheel bearing noise

Oil leak from EGR valve(not drastic problem)

Good luck with car:thumbup:

 thanks

Yep, sounds a very good buy at that money!

snap it up, you'd sell on ebay/autotrader for a £1000 more maybe

Don't forget that as a Dec 06 car it still has 17 months or so manufacturer's warranty.

Oops - just noticed the mileage! 3rd year is only up to 60K. But even with 5 months you still have time to get stuff sorted out.

The 1.9 is a great engine - maybe a little rough around the edges but gives fantastic economy, £120 per year road tax and more than adequate performance.
