Couple Questions about my VRS

Featured Replies

ok i bought it last month, went straight through MOT, feels good, havign service today.

just looking and i have a pipe blanked off i'd like to know what it was?

and also i know i've never had a car this new so maybe i'm just not used to it! but this metal pipe at the back seems quite shiny still, and doestn quite look factory fitted?

any help appreciated!

mine has that shiney pipe 2 i think thats how they come mate but they get f****n hot

i dont no bout the other pipe yet

Pipe at back is normal, it's just the stainless steel boost pipe that goes from the compressor outlet down into the front offside wing where the intercooler is. No concern there.

The plugged up hose is one of the vacuum hose feeds for the brake servo. As it is now, it just works as a standard vacuum system (simple hose with one-way valve from inlet manifold to servo). That plugged up feed normally goes down to the suction spray pump, which has a vacuum feed from the inlet manifold itself, and is connected to the crankcase breather line, which runs from the crankcase breather hole to the turbo inlet hose.

I have no idea what the suction spray pump thing does, so I'm not sure why that's blocked off. Maybe they simplified the stupidly complex vacuum system to be more reliable!!

Someone must know.......

thats quite an explanation of what it is anyway! why is the harder question! I know its had a new caliper at front as its not green!

brakes seem ok but not used them in real anger lol.

thanks for boost pipe answer, last turbo car i had was a fiat so everything was covered in oil from breaking down all the time not nice and shiny - so just not used to it!

That is kinda odd, I'm guessing who ever did it just found a matching standard caliper of the same design and popped it on.

I don't know if the vRS caliper has a different part number just for being green!

For piece of mind i would check that the calipers are of identical design, and then if they are identical, just paint one green to match for now.

Slam the brakes on while your on a flat bit of road, or use a supermarket carpark at night maybe. See if she pulls up straight.

I've def checked it looks identical, and seems to brake straight! he told me it was a Leon Cupra caliper because he coudl get one next day from Seat, but Skoda wanted 3 days to get one, and he needed to get on the road again.
