My door

Featured Replies

one of my rear doors has a very temperamental central locking mechanism, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt

i had the door card off yesterday and it suddenly started working again, was working for a bit and then suddenly stopped.i really dont get it

any ideas whats wrong with it?i had a search for whats wrong but everything that came up seemed to be stuff that just isnt working at all

Could be the control module in the door maybe, might have dodgy connections

Has water got into the door?

Maybe getting Skoda to stick vag com on your car might give a clue as to what could be wrong

it was a bit wet inside the door when i had the door card off, but i just assumed that to be normal cause of rain anyway?which bit would be the control module?the bit next to where the door locks to the car?

I've been having the same problem for about a month now, and I think I haver narrowed it down to the actuator mechanism on the lock itself. Power is getting through to the unit, but it just doesn't seem to want to work any more, so I am in the process of sourcing another one form a scrapper to try that. Skoda want £96 + vat for a new one :eek: !!!!!!!!

I think ive fixed it... described the problem to my mechanic mate and he suggested

spray WD40 on it, which as of yet...fingers crossed...has worked

sprayed it on the lock mechanism on the inside and on the outside aswell

Hope its all sorted mate!

Here's what i did for the tailgate lock motor

i believe it water getting past the window seal, looks as if the piece at the bottom has been removed before and is now slightly bent out

anyone know if its an easy job to take off?

also a part number for the seal would be handy if its not fixable?

cheers

I thought the tailgate glasses were bonded in, like the windscreens are?

I was going to suggest the same thing, seems to be a common problem for the VAG range. We've had a few MK3 & MK4 golfs were the same thing happens. A bit of WD always seems to sort it
