Featured Replies

hello everyone!

my octy vrs has now done 13500 miles but is not due for its first service till 20,000 miles or two years .

it seems a very long time with out changing the oil ,should i change it before or just wait till the service if i do change it what sort should i use

yours confused bully.

Don't worry. If your car has long life oil in, it can go past 20k miles without needing a service. The service light will come on when it needs a refil. Just check the level every time you fill up to ensure the level isn't dropping.

I have mine on a fixed interval service schedule due to it being chipped and tracked.

Get the oil changed when the service indicator says a service is due. Use a LongLife oil to spec VW 503 00 if you are staying with variable servicing. If you are going to opt for fixed service intervals the choice of oil is much wider. In the meantime you MUST use a VW 503 00 oil for topping up or else your car will revert to fixed service intervals. There are loads of thread about engine oils. A list of suitable LongLife oils can be found in the Articles section here.
