Broken coil spring vrs 05.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Anyone suffered a broken coil spring?:thumbdwn: My vrs is an 05 with 26500 miles and the o/s/f has gone today, should they really go with so little milage and the car only 41 months old?

Anyone got any ideas if i could make a claim to Skoda even though it is out of warranty plus anyone any ideas on prices for the springs and replacement.

Cheers

loads of springs available on here , from people who have fitted lowering springs to their VRSs, in fact i have some that have done just 5k miles if you want them

I have some too, but a less attractive 37k on them

Unfortunately its fairly common. Original springs from a dealer are in the £60-70 range for ONE. Lowering springs come in at £100-£150 for a set of 4. I think Koni do springs that only lower 25mm, at the lower price range of £100ish and Eibach do them with a claimed 30mm drop, but its actually closer to 24mm drop, which are close to OE spec as far as hashness goes.

Alternatively, if you look hard enough, you can get KYB OE spec ones for about £35 each plus delivery. Only thing is, you would need to change a pair, as i wouldn't want different brands of spring on the same axle, nor springs that are significantly different in age as the will both behave slightly differently. Personally,i'd go for a pair. If you cant fit them yourself a local independent garage should be able to do a pair for £50 for ya.
