how much in and out play should there be on the inlet side of the turbocharger,

there is about 1mm side to side which is normal but whats the norm for in and out?

There should be a little movement. There are no bearings in the turbo as such it floats on oil, if the engine is not running then you have no oil pressue so there will lbe movement.

so 10mm in and out play is too much???

Err yes, 10mm would class more than a little.

Not that I know either way, but which is it? 1 or 10?

a second hand one i'm looking at,

they said 1mm side to side and then he said 10mm in and out play, which i think is wrong? it cant be a whole cm that would mean its proper foobard
