The bushes on my VRS are tired and stretched (>35,000 miles) - the tyres are wearing on the inside and the car does not feel taught. I see that the bushes are deformed and crazed when inspecting them. I cannot afford to burn through expensive tyres :( so I would like them sorted if poss. Now, the Cupra upgrade is well known here, but I am a bit unsure where to take the car for the best to have them fitted. I have the following options - please can you take a moment and give your opinion on them? The car is under warranty.

1. Dealer says worn bushes are not covered by the warranty, but I could take Cupra bushes in and ask for them to be fitted.

2. Take the car/bushes into the local tyre and brakes service depot - they have a laser aligner, but not sure of their knowledge of bush replacement. They are a good gang:thumbup:.

3. Drive to an independent VAG specialist - but is it a 'while you wait' job or will I need to leave the car all day?

4. Take the car to a SEAT garage and see if they will do the work.

5. ? Have I missed one?

If you're feeling brave, there are some very good DIY guides on here!

I got mine done at Awesome, and I think it was a half-day job including an oil change and alignment.

If the SEAT dealers near you are anything like mine, they'll want your VIN number for anything so they won't help you... :thumbdwn:

Yes - the DIY guides are very good, but something is telling me not to even start that job - I can do plenty to a car, but after the spring compressor fiasco with my Mum's 130 I now leave suspension components alone. There comes a point in a job (when it is not going well) when the muscle ache, sore back, tired arms and sweat-soaked brow make me feel that I would happily pay the garage fee to end the greif and be done with it!

Awesome sounds good, but perhaps a little far (Birmingham?).

i see you are in hemel, i am just in watford.

i drove up to MK and lummox from this site did mine. he charged me £120 including the bushes.

pm him and see what he can do for you. he did it while i waited and it took about an hour.
