Featured Replies

Hi all,

I need a brake fluid change, what sort of quotes have you all had and where from?

I've always done my own in the past but can no longer be bothered to do it lol.

Cheers

I've got a Gunsons Easy Bleed, and is the perfect tool for changing brake fluid very easily and single handed......

About £40, done with an inspection service, from Henry's in Glasgow, not that that's much help if you're in Yorkshire! ;)

There ia a thread somewhere, Hold on....................

cant find it but, I paid around £45 @ skoda

Bickertons Skoda in Sheffield. - £42.89.

Just had the fabia done and was charged £42.89.

Octavia is due in a couple of months with cam belt & service etc. Price quoted: £42.89.

Thanks chaps, thats given me some idea of what sort of price i should be looking at.

I wouldn't altogether trust a garage to change the brake fluid, because I wouldn't be sure if they'd actually do it and how. Also I'm not convinced it's a good idea to keep pumping the brake pedal to the floor, as the master cylinder seals go to places they don't normally go.

With the tool I mentioned above changing the fluid is quick and very simple, and best of all you know you've done it properly........

I think they use a compressor to blow the fluid through.

I think they use a compressor to blow the fluid through.

If they do that's fine......

I have read somewhere or other that the Royal Mail used to have self bleed valves fitted to their vehicles, I have seen these valves for sale on the web but it works out rather expensive to buy four of them.
