Featured Replies

saw in the argos catalogues that they do these readers for diagnostic checks on all car inc petrol and diesel models.....anyone purchased any of these items? cheapest was 40 quid and dearest was 120 quid.....are they a good buy do you think?

Argos selling OBD machines??

We (Halfords) sell a Gunson OBD reader for about £140 - I would be weary of anything that claims to read OBD fault codes for £40.

Get yourself Vag-com and a lead from Ebay. Not sure of the prices these day sbut I paid $99 for the software (about £55) and £30 for the lead.

Still the original and best VAG software. Don't know why I didn't mention that earlier...

I guess you mean this?

I'm still not convinced, but I guess this does do what it says on the tin - but ofc it only provides you with the code.

The phrase "Generic fault code definition table provided" worries me as well, I don't think that it'd have the more, er, "exotic" codes... and ofc something like VAG-COM lets you reset various bits of data.

...but then the RAC one is only £40...

Oh well. Hope that made sense to someone!?!
