Engine Management Light.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

First of all.. yes, I've searched, can't find anything discussing my exact symptoms.

Bout' a week ago ran the fuel tank very low (computer saying 5 miles left, so must have been less than by time i got to the petrol station).. had no trouble immediately...

Car sat for 2 or 3 days and then wouldn't start.. it'd turn and turn and turn but not fire. My Mum's Saab does this sometimes and it's the immobilizer playing up / timing out.. so did what she does, locked the car and un-locked the car.. after that it started, so put it down to a security system glitch.

Car sat for a week after that short trip. This morning I came to come into work and again it wouldn't fire up, it'd turn and turn but not fire. Noticed that the engine management light (not the epc) wasn't going out.. finally, after trying the remote again I tried locking the doors with the button on the door it's self just for arguments sake.. then it took and started!

However, my Engine management light remains lit up! Don't think it's in limp mode like the manual says it could be, if it is then it's very subtle!

I know this could be so many things, but with the non starting? any ideas? Coolent sensor changed about 18 months ago. 60k service (including belt) 7k ago. No apparent rough running or OTT oil consumption.

Once I got to work, I turned it off and then, after a minute, tried to start it again.. for maybe half a second the engine light went off as it took, but came straight back on and the engine seemed to die for the brief non light time and then settle with the light returning.
