Rear doors fixed and the speaker rattle too!

Featured Replies

My car has recently got the rear leaky door problem, so I decided to fix it. I was really suprised how easy it was to do. It took just a little over an hour and half (including drying time for the silicone sealant) I also fixed the annoying front passenger side speaker rattle too in that time. I undid part of the door card and placed a piece of foam between the lower section of the speaker and the door card. No rattle even with bass heavy music and a dead easy fix. I have lived with that rattle for 2 and half years and if I'd have known it was that easy to do...I'd have done it 2 and a half years ago!:D

i have this problem too, dont suppose you took any photies of how you did it, items you need etc?

I didnt take any photos but if you are after the rear door fix. Then I got my information from here Fabia-vrs.com - Re-sealing Fabia Rear Ancillaries Carriers.

The front door cards remove very similar to the rears. Undid the lower 3 screws holding the door card on and undid the screw hidden behind the cover next to the inside door handle. I prised open the cover, which has the window switch on and unplugged the switch. Slide forward the large handle cover to reveal 3 screws. Removed those and then carefully pulled the lower door card outwards slightly. Just enough to get my hand under to place the foam between the speaker and door card. I used a piece of foam about and 10 cm by 6 cm and then refitted everything in reverse. It should take no longer than ten minutes to do.

Hope this helps?

Matt

cheers ill have to have a go at that soon, the leaking water causes the rear carpets to smell musty.
