Condensention on the window when using aircon

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Had a quick search but could not find anything.

When I use the aircom to clear the windscreen I got 4 or 5 huge condensation patches on the bottom of the windscreen on the outside , this normally clears when I put the wipers back on, but this morning when I got inside the car the patches were on the inside and the aircon was refusing to clear them.

Any ideas what this could be??

Condensation occurs when moist air comes into contact with something colder. First thing I would look for would be any signs of moisture within the car, leaking door carriers, disconnected rear washer pipe, wet clothes etc. The next thing I would look for is to ensure that the aircon is venting any moisture that it extracts from the air, run it for a while and look under the car for a puddle of clear water.

The re-circulation function could be on, but on some cars it will automatically turn off when the air is directed towards the screen.

Thanks for that Fordfan, will have a wee look later tonight,

Check your pollen filter.....the air passes thru that before hitting your windscreen or vents , if its soaking then you will get condensation on the inside of your screen. It happened to me , and was caused by the drain holes in the front scuttle being blocked by dirt/bits of leaf etc. Cleaning the drain holes out and changine the pollen filter sorted this on my car.

Hope this is of use.

This sometimes happens with mine too, and all the above points are checked and ok.
