Driver's side air vent

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've recently purchase a 2004 Tdi Comfort Superb in Nightfire Blue.

Pretty happy with the car but have had to change a few things because the previous owner hasn't maintained it as well as I would have liked.

Just found this website and the technical threads have greatly helped me!

Have already replaced a door speaker grille that had been damaged - had to get the part from VW though, Skoda didn't stock them.

Also changed the drivers door pull handle and electric window switch surround - the old one had been scratched and the outer layer of plastic had peeled off.

Also replaced the front grille, which comes in three parts. Was very easy to change and looks great now. Went for the standard grille and not the milotec variant.

Just need to sort out the nearside headlamp now becuase it seems to be misted up. Not sure if the seals have gone on plastic backs that clip onto the back of the headlamp. Luckily they are not the xenon version. Apparently there is an air vent/pipe that often gets blocked?

Finally, the drivers air vent is broken. Looks like someone has forced an air freshener onto the slats and now they are scratched and broken. Skoda have quoted abut £55 for a new one. Has anyone replaced one of these and how easy is it? I haven't been able to find an existing thread on this topic.

Cheers

Russ

I took the passenger side on out and unclipped the unit, i then got a modelling pin glowing hot and carefully shoved the pin into one of the slats making a hole for it. I then took it out and allowed to cool.

Applied some superglue and stuck it back in, trimmed it to size and reassembled. Jobs a gud en!

Great idea! I tried to lever out my driver's side vent a while back but it seemed a lot more difficult to do than on my previous Octavia. Does anyone have any tips on the easiest method to pop out the vent?
