Audience + Skoda Sound system Problem

Featured Replies

I've just benen trying to help a mate out & we've found a problem that can't be unique!

He presently has the Audiebce HU fitted to his Octy Sports. However he's had a few problems with it and taken it back to the dealer to be replaced under warrenty. The dealer has tried 2 different HU's and "not been able to code them in & get them working"

So we tried fitting an MFD 2 this evening. All works except there is no volume & VAG Com lists a string of faults as follows:

I've tried all the code helpers and reset the unit, but there is still no sond, except when you enter the Sound system control, then there is sound very briefly. When you re install the audience, it seems to work fine & the faults are not there. Ive no idea what codes were generated when the dealer tried the other 2 audience head units, but suffice to say they didnt work either! I must be missing something!!

Any help welcomed, as I can't see why only one HU will work, but as I say I might be missing something obvious!!

I'm fairly sure that a MFD2 will not work with the Soundsystem.

I am led to believe a MFD3 will work.

As for the Audience then surely the dealer can sort that?

Oh dear, I hope your wrong Hedge

If not there will be an MFD2 for sale shortly :(

However, no matter if it is compatible with the sound system or not, we still need to solve the problem.

I took my car in under warranty as the Audience stereo works fine but was showing a fault code.

So far its had 2 new Audience H/U's but they cant get them working.

Only my original H/U works

It must be the coding

We need to find out why my speakers will only operate with the original H/U, as its obviously not a physical problem

Any help much appreciated

TIA

 I hope that's not the case either!!

As you say we need to find out why only the supplied HU will work

Seems curious as Stu's "how to" lists possible codes for the MFD2 with a sound system

As Damo says, we'd welcome any help!

The sound system has an amplifier that is turned on by a CAN signal. No ordinary lead with 12 volts.

The MFD² cannot send this signal.

That is why the Nexus never has been in the optionlist with the soundsystem.

The newer Columbus (RNS510) can provide the signal.

Here in Germany a former user of the octaviaboard had engineered a little device to turn on the soundsystem amplifier with other HU than the Audience.

They sell the box for about 100 euros + postage.

If you want me to look in the other board, I can tell you how much it actually costs and send the contactdata.

Thanks but I think I will probably sell the MFD2 and start to save up for an MFD3 :(

Yep, that is still the best way to go. Had a Nexus myself, replaced it with a MFD²DVD (already a far better navi than the Nexus, soundwise as well as europewide navigation on one disc) and after that I bought the RNS510.

Not cheap but a wonderfull piece of in car entertainment including navigation. And also fully compatible with the different soundsystems of the VAG cars.

Thanks for all the help Magic62 and liking your choice of BBS Alloys :D

I (we) love em :thumbup::D

Hi

I am having a problem upgrading to a new head unit and need a way to switch on a DSP amp. You say you know someone who makes something that can do this? could you put me in touch with them?

thanks

Oliver
