Coolant Temp Sender SDi Engine - Help

Featured Replies

Hi. After posting a little while ago about various fault codes and slowly getting them sorted I have now hit a bit of a problem.

I have this fault code:

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US

TMBNF46Y313185654 SKZ7Z0Y0722730

1 Fault Found:

17664 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62): Open or Short to Plus

P1256 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Readiness: N/A

I went to my local dealer (who has just become part of the Renault delaership :(:() to get an "Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62)" and I have received what I think to be the wrong part. I thought it was a sender that fits in the Coolant Flange on the NS of the engine block and help in place with a clip and has two wires connected to it. I received from the dealer a large sender with a brass thread and has a triangular shaped socket into which a plug fits. I thought it was wrong and said to the parts man. We both looked at the EKTA parts cat and it just pointed to this part. This is a temp sender but looks like it scres into the rad or another part of the cooling system. It is not the part I think I want.

However, after looking on vagcat.com I have now found that there are two senders/sensors that have the same part number which is:

06A919501A

Please can some one confirm which sender I need to replace, where it is, what it looks like and what the part number is. I am confused - I'm sure the parts man will be two when I tell him there are two parts with the same part numbers

The car seems fine and starts normally. Occaisionally the glow plug warning light will stay on for a little too long 12 secs or longer. The temp gauge on the dash works fine. Where does the dash gauge get its signal from and where does the ECU get its signal?

The car is a 2001 Fabia with a SDi engine if that helps?

TIA

Nick....

Sorry to bump but I need to get this part exchanged/returned to the dealers at lunch time tomorrow.

Any ideas?

TIA

Yay!! Now got the right part. It appears that I received the wrong part from Skoda Parts but with the right part number and paperwork DOH!

Thanks Skoda for wasting me a Saturday afternoon when I could have been in the park playing with the kids.....
