Bonnet Opening Itself??

Featured Replies

As i was driving down the motorway towards Bicester, my intermitent windscreen wipers stopped working and i thought it was a bit strange as they had been working just minutes before and stopped when i adjusted the speed of them but it wasn't until i parked and noticed the bonnet had popped open all by itself. I didn't catch the bonnet lever as my legs don't go near it and this is this first time it's happened in 4 years of owning the car.

I was under the bonnet on Thursday night but made sure it was shut and had been to work and then to Banbury on the Friday before this happened as i was heading to Bicester on Saturday. Anyone else had a problem with their bonnet popping while driving??

I know BMW mini's did it alot. happend to my mate on the m6 once!!

other than that my dads fabia's done a million miles and its not poped the bonnet on its own...

nope....

Renault clios did this alot to apparantly......

It can happen on any car. Generally, lack of grease on the bonnet catch or corrosion of the bonnet release cable will cause it.

Whatever you do, make sure that the safety catch is lubed up as that's the last chance to prevent disaster.
