new front brakes sticking!

Featured Replies

I have a problem that my new tt front brakes keep sticking!

The calipers were brand new, with brand new discs, pads, and hose.

where can i go from here?

Take them off and put them back on checking everything is ok and lined up ok. Check the pistons are moving ok in and out.

The only time I have ever had this with a brake system I have been familiar with is where I messed up putting it back together. Be sure to check the condition of the threads on the hub too as they don't like being taken on and off too much.

Still sticking?

Are the pistons moving correctly? Can you see pressure being applied and released?

yes i can see all that just only way i can really get 2 release the brakes 100% is getting the anti lock brakes too kick in by jumping on the brakes hard.???

im very confused!

HELP!

I have no idea based on what your saying, is it both sides? Whats the pedal like?

I would get the codes read and if not get someone qualified to look at it (IE NOT Kwik Fit).

You could aslo try posting in Ask a Tech (You need to join freedom for this)

Are you sure you have the correct pads for the disks and calipers? If they are even a couple of mm too fat you will have problems. What about the master cylinder and servo? Have you touched those? When I had a Golf GTi I had a similar problem which turned out to be the linkage from the brake pedal to the servo. The clevis pin was out of adjustment after a servo change and was barely pressing onto the servo but just enough to cause problems. Engine off and no servo brakes were fine. Engine running with vacuum and the brakes would bind.

Strip em down again and make sure the sliders pins and contact areas (calipers) are lubed with a bit of copper slip? (I guess you have done this though?)
